@quinnthegm I think mainly because their were a bunch of TV show fans who went something like "Wow! This is so darker, gritter, sexier than LOTR. So realistic!" then the responded to that. A game where no one is actually talking about the work itself and just what they presume the work is.

@BrandNewIain Again I do agree with. It is a different experience. But what I am saying is what people want. They want the plot to diverge. In essence they want a TTRPG experience. Which I don't think that would be good because, as you said, a cohesive experience is better.

@Knight10293847 I mean you're in the same location, but having a totally different experience. Personally I'd much rather have something which feels cohesive rather than just letting me do literally anything, that's what TTRPGs are for

The issue with choices in games is that they suggest plot divergence but they don't do that. Until Dawn and Detroit Become Human do that but they are focused on that. And when games like Witcher 3 do it, its only reserved for the main quest..

Is there actually a choice based game where your choices ACTUALLY REALLY matter? Like, the story is actually significantly different. No Telltale or LIS game has achieved this. LiS2 probably sold the illusion the best. Until Dawn and Heavy Rain maybe?

@BrandNewIain I completely agree but the plot merges again. It diverges for a bit but it ends up in the same location. Getting there is different but the destination is all the same. Which is what people are complaining about. Not really the journey but where it leads.

@Knight10293847 I'd probably be inclined to say Witcher 2 comes closest to the fantasy people have of it. In that it has two separate sets of main quests and side quests determined by a choice in Act 1, but the game also shows why that really doesn't work

@miriam_choomie I don't doubt they want to use the show to make money. But the show isn't gonna come out for a while and the game is a long time away. They change quite quickly when things are looking down short term. But we will see.

Because EA will be trying to lure the TV Show Fans towards the games. At least that would be my theory

I removed ME5 from my most anticipated games…
Truth is: I genuinely dont know if Im hyped for the game at all. Like yeah sure I hope and I pray it will be great and bring some success to one of the greatest RPG Developers…
Although I would not be shocked at all if the opposite happens. So perhaps its better to dampen the Expectations bc I hyped myself for Dragon Age 4 and well it didn’t live up to my expectations…
God how much I want that Mass Effect 5 is a banger😭
We‘ll see what happens hopefully next year or perhaps this year we get more news bc its been like what 5 years since the first announcement?
