@dmoonglampers_ @MadelaineLucyH Except it really isn't. Apprenticeship back then was incredibly difficult and modern trade schools don't compare. An apprentice then was directly a reflection of their master in a way they aren't really today and so masters were often exceedingly critical

@MadelaineLucyH the modern equivalent to tradescraft apprenticeships is actually not 4 year university. it would be entering a trade school or, even, doing a trade apprenticeship.

I love these goofy anti-education losers because they think you just rocked up with a chisel at 18 and someone said 'ok so do what you want, enjoy, cathedral there please'. The guilds and apprenticeships were hardcore. It was a degree, as we'd understand it, and highly specialised
