I DID IT. I’M A DIETITIAN !!!!! I COMPLETED INTERNSHIP !! HOLY MOLY !!!! if you asked me a year ago when i first started internship i never thought i’d make it to the end, it was so daunting and terrifying & i had negative confidence in myself. they tossed me into the deep end and said “swim” & somehow i did :”) *not a registered dietitian until after my big ol exam, but i’m now a dietitian and wow i can’t believe this day is here. after 5 years of stress, tears, and endless nights, i can finally see the end of the tunnel.

great question, i started off with just fibre in general because that’s usually a good starting point for people to focus on there’s soluble & insoluble: - soluble (from oats, chia, legumes, Metamucil etc) dissolves in water to form a gel and helps with gut microbiome, blood sugar, digestion - insoluble (from whole grains, veggies, apples, etc) adds bulk to keep you regular there is no specific DRI for each, but it’s suggested to get at least 5-10 grams from soluble fibre and the rest from insoluble

fibre helps with regular bowel movements, reduces constipation, helps with regulating blood sugar and preventing diabetes, lowers cholesterol, acts as prebiotics to help with gut microbiome (our stomach is often seen as a second brain. gut microbiome is correlated with mental health and many other conditions), makes us feel full for longer which helps with weight loss, etc etc women need 25g/day, men need 38g/day. most people get less than half of that but any increase is better than none
