@Miramodus @ChemistryMIT They are a great gift as well. Beever models were (are) small. I still have my set of simple solid state structures. At least at one time, they were made by handicapped people providing employment to previously underemployed people .

@Miramodus @ChemistryMIT Physical modals were a necessity until you could rotate molecules on the computer screen. Back in early 1980's it typically took 30 minutes to run ORTEP to get one view of your structure. Sometimes only a physical model would be necessary to appreciate some aspect of a structur

Fe-S clusters exist in a wide range of proteins including Nitrogenase and Ferredoxins .
We've recently completed a set of Fe-S cluster models on oak bases for a newly-tenured researcher @ChemistryMIT. Impressive collection when it was all together!

@Miramodus @ChemistryMIT My general chemistry students always thought I was strange when I told them one of the happiest days of my life was when one of my colleagues got a 15$K graphics terminal where I could rotate my structures on the screen

Wolfgang Pauli, a pioneer of quantum physics, was notorious for his seemingly disastrous effect on experimental equipment. Whenever he was near, technical equipment would malfunction or experiments would fail, which led to his colleagues jokingly dubbing this the "Pauli Effect".
Pauli himself was aware of this reputation and even avoided certain labs to prevent mishaps.
