After 8 long years of pain, darkness, danger, and neglect, the traffic lights at Awoshie-Mangoase Baah Yard are finally working again. For years, residents, motorists, traders, schoolchildren, and commuters were forced to navigate this busy intersection at great risk. Countless complaints were made, promises came and went, yet the situation remained unchanged. Many had simply lost hope that anything would be done. Today, that story has changed. This may seem like a simple traffic light to some, but to the people of Awoshie-Mangoase Baah Yard, it represents something much bigger: safety, dignity, and the belief that their concerns matter. I would like to acknowledge the support of the Municipal Chief Executive, the Chiefs of Awoshie, and other stakeholders whose cooperation has been instrumental in helping us move this matter forward. I am also deeply grateful to the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Governs Kwame Agbodza, for facilitating and expediting the process to ensure that this long-standing challenge received the urgent attention it deserved. My appreciation also goes to the engineers and technical teams who worked tirelessly, including through the night, to diagnose the faults, restore the system, and ensure that the traffic lights are fully operational once again. As your Member of Parliament, I remain committed to ensuring that basic public services are not treated as privileges but as necessities. Our municipality deserves functioning infrastructure, safer roads, and a government that responds to the everyday challenges of ordinary people. This is not the end of our work but a stark reminder that when we listen to the needs of our people and act with urgency, progress is possible. I also wish to appeal to all residents, drivers, traders, and community members to take collective ownership of this restoration. Let us remain vigilant and help protect the equipment from theft, vandalism, and damage. Public infrastructure belongs to all of us, and safeguarding it is a shared responsibility. To everyone who kept raising their voices and refusing to accept neglect as normal, thank you. To the media houses and journalists who consistently highlighted the dangers posed by this situation, I acknowledge and appreciate your role. Together, we will continue to push for the development, safety, and transformation that Ablekuma North deserves. #EwuraForABN #AblekumaNorth #NotMeUs #Focus Friday| 22ndMay, 2026 photos.app.goo.gl/SbRkZGE48xQWtd…

“Nigeria, this is a school bus in America. When you’re driving behind one and it stops to pick up students, you must stop too. You can’t overtake or drive past until every child safely enters the bus and it starts moving again. That’s what a functioning society looks like, where children’s safety comes first and rules are actually respected.” — Man educates Nigerians on how sane America works unlike the jungle system we’re forced to survive in Nigeria.

Tweets like this piss me off, bro. You can count the number of working streetlights in the city. This is the same city filled with filth and open gutters, with slums that span kilometers. Many parts of Accra still have terrible roads, the ambulance service is a disaster because of the poor road network, and you’re saying it’s one of the top 5 nicest cities? The same city with markets that smell like death, the same city where trotro is the major mode of public transport. Who do you think you’re fooling?
Kafui™️@Mr_Gidiglo

🇬🇭 Accra should be part of the top 5 nicest cities in Africa. 🌍

This is why unity in leadership matters. Gomoa MPs are working together for a common goal, while others are busy arguing over projects that are meant to benefit the people anyway. Development should always come first. This is huge 😦😍👏🤯🇬🇭
