This is one of the biggest lies in gamedev. You need almost all the components of the game to properly understand how entertaining a game is. It’s extremely hard to evaluate a game just based on greyboxing

So many people replying to ppl saying most videogame writing is very bad by saying "it's not the point of games! it's the gameplay!" well explain that to the litany of aaa studios sacrificing gameplay for traditional narratives seen in films and tv.

AAA Mario is a railgun killshot, and, as someone who’s put his fair share of “good, you made its” down in scripts, it’s been fun meeting eyes with other games writers, knowing full well *why* games end up this way.

I casually started watching “KPop Demon Hunters,” got completely hooked, and ended up crying my eyes out by the end. It was so, so good 🥺🫶

It's crazy to me that we're almost in 2026 and there's still big YouTubers saying nonsense like this. Reinvent the wheel? Aiming imprecise? GoldenEye INVENTED the wheel for modern controls. The N64 stick allows for unmatched precision.
