Joe Mantiply is kind of a sick a RP. He’s the 2nd lefty in the pen, has a K% of 33.3%, GB% of 61.5%, and an xERA of 3.24. Has now struckout Roman Anthony both times he’s seen him in this series. Also, he has an option remaining.

@FAmmiranteTFJ Eloy also had no future with this squad and DFA’ing him was the correct move. Now when Lukes comes back is where it gets more interesting (or whoever is second between him and Barger).

Davis Schneider is a decent platoon bat with a great walk rate, but the casuals tend to LOVE him

Eloy Jimenez just got designated for assignment. The most casual Blue Jays fan you know, probably wearing their Davis Schneider jersey, just fell to their knees at Loblaws.

@JoshuaHowsam @Evan_Bags17 That’s fair, just not sure who that is from the other side’s perspective. I get he would want another path, but if I am a struggling team I would want those at bats going to someone who I am getting a look at for the future.

Too bad Eloy didn't make himself indispensable. Pretty easy decision to let him go with Springer coming back and both guys basically limited to DH.

@Damon98_ @KevinOwildin Plus with Lukes on the IL the lineup has swung back to have too many RH bats on the bench. Having a bench of Straw/Schneider, Eloy and Sosa doesn’t make sense.

I forgot Pinañgo was up for a second so optioning him back down to Buffalo looks like it'll be the corresponding move to activate Springer but I'd truthfully just DFA Eloy Jimènez. The DH spot is gone and he's not ever seeing the field. 0 tool player.

@CratesOfFrates @MZavagno11 Fair, I think it will be an unintended consequence that is a product of the NBA’s own doing which is the part I don’t like. Tanking sucks and it hits the NBA hard, but the NBA is set up to needing a star to win full stop compared to all other sports.

@KolidaPaul @MZavagno11 It shrinks those odds for the bottom 3 but raises those odds for the next 7 teams, who very likely, also do not have a superstar. I understand your POV but I think even if this is a slight overcorrection, it’s possibly a necessary one

It’s beyond frustrating that the NBA cannot accept that giving good players to bad teams is healthy for the continued success of the league

@CratesOfFrates @MZavagno11 I just think it also shrinks essentially the only way to get a star (especially for every smaller on non-traditional power market) which means certain teams will just remain bad for a long time even if they aren’t tanking.

@KolidaPaul @MZavagno11 They can still get the first overall pick, the chances just shrink. In my opinion, it just makes tanking a less viable option, which should be the league’s stance on this

@CratesOfFrates @MZavagno11 The truly bad teams will remain bad though they won’t be able to get stars through the draft anymore. And in today’s NBA, free agency is nearly dead. I get the concept they are going for but it is going to have some very big unintended consequences.

@MZavagno11 Most bad teams don’t try to be less bad. If you remove the reward for being horrible, you’ll get more teams being aggressive to improve their teams in the offseason, or even with mid-season trades. Trying to lose games should never be an acceptable strategy
