@slcdunk Acuff and George would be the worst defensive backcourt in the league. Having two rim protectors behind a small/bad defensive backcourt doesn’t work in the playoffs (Cavs). Who guards Edwards, SGA, any Spurs guard, etc? Would be an awful pick fit-wise.

@Tjonesonthenba What do you think the realistic contract demands are for Kessler and George? $28 mil AAV for Kessler and $35 mil AAV for George? Ran the projections… if these are in the ballpark you descend Kessler and avoid the tax/easily stay below the second apron (without using exceptions)

Some of these passes look like stuff you’d expect from an All-Star guard…and the fact Acuff can score from all three levels effectively on top of this. Special talent…

@HPbasketball There are close to 10 teams actively trying to lose. Stop clutching pearls. The system requires high picks to acquire talent. Accept it as a necessary evil and move on.

I don't even mind if Utah would JUST say "Lauri's out for the season with a hamstring strain, Nurk's out with a knee sprain, and Svi is out with Mykhailiukitis."
But they're not. They're playing them and then benching them in certain games, or down the stretch, or when they might win. THAT is too far.

@HPbasketball 💯 Awful teams trying to be worse than other awful teams doesn’t bother me. A team with JJJ. Lauri, and Key has no business trying to be worse than Washington or Brooklyn. Indiana w/Zubac is in a different tier than the true bottom feeders. That’s where it gets gross.

Quick follow up: after the JJJ trade it seems like the Jazz HAVE to keep WK even if that means matching an offer in the $30 million+ AAV range. However that would cause big financial problems quickly with a Keyonte extension looming, correct?

@McCadeP8 Your takes stink. Insinuating next year is “make or break” is absurd. They’re banking on improvement from Bailey and contributions from a rookie. A play in would be a win for the franchise. The trade was made with a 3-5 year window in mind. Stop being an alarmist.

The Jazz are going to find out if Keyonte-Ace-Lauri-JJJ-Kessler is a championship level team or an overly expensive one. And very fast as well.

Agree with the caveat that the best route for the Browns long term would have been getting 1.2, trading down for additional picks, riding Shadeur for 2026, suck in 2026, and go into 2027 with a top 5 pick + an additional first with a cleaned up cap sheet.

I only care about the best long term outlook of the Cleveland Browns. In a 4 win season, your best chance to improve is the highest draft pick possible. I'll die on that logical hill. Hate me for it if you want.

@SportsBoyTony @KenCarman might be worth looking into the similarities between the 2025 Browns and the 2022 Commanders. Commanders decided to ride with a 5th round QB (had one start in 22) in 23 and a lame duck coach then pivoted with a new regime/QB the following year.

@hansenjames Maybe the Jazz FO is playing 5D chess. Cody Williams is the ultimate tank commander. If they give him 20 minutes a night, they can keep Lauri and still be in the running for a top 5 pick. Cody’s per 100 possessions numbers are staggering. Keep “developing” that man!

Please explain how. Free agent class of 2026 stinks. Only “stars” seemingly available this season/off season are Ja, Trae, and Zion. Can acquire them with space, but one of those + current team and no 2026 top 5 pick has a ceiling of first round fodder.

If Lauri Markkanen has turned into a player that’s so good you can’t tank with him on a horrible roster, then just roll with it The Utah Jazz roster is so young. They’ll get much better. Roll with what you have if Lauri is that good. Ace Bailey and the others will catch up.
