I told myself I wouldn’t post on X until my app reached $1m/month - bootstrapped - sole founder - 0 experience with code ask me anything

If i’ve learned anything during my first week on X It’s the ignorance that the tech world has that “If I build it, they will come” 50% of the questions I have gotten have been “What is the app?” as if the idea/app is the sole driver of the success wouldn’t it make more sense that 500+ million views on the product would be more of a driver to the apps growth? ideas are overrated execution is everything

there’s nothing “easier” about being bootstrapped + sole founder it’s an absolute grind with no one to lean on when things get tough
Maksim@MaksimXBT

@colekosco2 bootstrapped is easier when you're the sole founder with no code experience to unlearn

I believe in distribution first this allows you to stack capital and invest it into the product it also allows you to get feedback from users on how to iterate
Adrian Reyes@areyesde

@colekosco2 What ended up compounding faster: product quality or distribution? Feels like most founders still underestimate how much audience changes the trajectory of a startup

both work.. but when first starting out, I would advise to not start with AI use AI as a tool once you understand content and virality

@a_d_i25 I first validated the idea by selling a free PDF with organic content the demand for a PDF in 2025, gave me the clarity that a well designed app would have product market fit this allowed me to invest my own money into my vision

Influencer marketing , then slowly scaling paid ads If you can crack influencer marketing, paid ads becomes a lot easier
Ognjen Gatalo@ognjengatalo

@Kosco_2 What was the marketing play? I'm guessing instagram / tiktok mostly if it's B2C?

everyone has their own strengths, the best thing you can do is understand your skills and hire for your weaknesses If you’re a great designer, partner with a killer dev and distributor. but I’d say sales is the #1 skill you can learn on top of your core competency If you can sell yourself and your vision, you can hire for everything else
Calum Lewis@CalumLewis

@colekosco2 How would you go about learning distribution? Is it through repetition etc?

It concerns me how many comments I have gotten saying “how did you grow this much without X” consumers do not live on X… builders do for B2C, builders are not buying your product your buyers are on IG/TT
