OpenAI's Spud and Anthropic's Mythos prove that reasoning techniques are becoming outdated. The new models can still give more intelligent answers just by making them smart during the pre-training stage. So you can still get better answers with fewer tokens & less reasoning.

Quick update to GPT-5.5 / Spud: AI labs are shifting back toward making models smarter during pretraining rather than leaning on reasoning (test-time compute) to boost performance. OpenAI's Spud and Anthropic's Mythos both appear to reflect this trend, getting better answers with fewer tokens and less reliance on chain-of-thought reasoning. Spud is smarter "out of the box" from pretraining, it shouldn't need to burn through long chains of reasoning tokens to reach good answers. Fewer tokens means faster responses and lower cost per query. Even more excited for spud today.

Zoomer’s account got suspended. Do you remember him? Yes, that’s the same Zoomer, (@ Doomerzoomer) who went viral late last year (around October 2025) for posting a simple photo of Steve Jobs’ daughter, Eve Jobs, with the caption along the lines of “Steve Jobs daughter btw.” The post gained over 100–170 million impressions, and X’s creator monetization paid him roughly $1,500 initially from impressions, followed by a special $10,000 bonus payout from the platform, which Nikita Bier (head of product) publicly acknowledged. Many creators were annoyed, pointing out that high-effort content often earns far less, while this low-effort viral hit scored big. Fast-forward to now: He has been suspended after another user exposed evidence that he was coordinating in a Telegram group, specifically asking or encouraging larger accounts to repost his content to boost visibility and impressions. X’s rules against platform manipulation, artificial amplification, and inauthentic engagement (including coordinated reposting schemes) make this a clear violation, even for accounts riding high on viral luck. X has been cracking down more visibly on these tactics to keep the algorithm honest and rewards tied to genuine engagement rather than backchannel gaming. Moral of the story: No one is untouchable on X. Follow the platform’s guidelines on authentic engagement, avoid manipulation schemes, and you’re far less likely to get suspended. Viral hits are fun until the rules catch up.

81% of Grade 4 children in South Africa (that’s 914,000 kids out of 1.1 million) cannot read for MEANING in ANY of South Africa’s 11 languages! It got WORSE — up from 78% in 2016. South Africa ranked DEAD LAST out of 43 countries, as per PIRLS 2021 numbers. Biggest drop of ANY nation. Average score? Just 288… while the world average is 500. Poor kids in townships and rural areas — are the ones suffering the most. They can’t read, can’t learn, and their futures are being stolen. South Africa’s racist laws like BEE (Black Economic Empowerment) put skin colour first and skills last. Elon Musk is 100% right. These race-based rules decide who gets hired as teachers, principals, and education bosses. Competence doesn’t matter, race quotas do. Result? Broken schools. South Africa deserves better. The kids deserve better. Stop the racism.

If 5,000 rural schools getting high speed internet for FREE is nothing, then what is the government's something? Because right now, the only thing moving is the talent and investment leaving South Africa for markets that actually want to compete. SA Government says mobile operators are doing more, but those same operators are charging the very people who can't afford bread. Starlink is offering a R500 million bypass to that poverty trap.
