A couple hours of light snow late this afternoon into early this evening could result in hazardous road conditions, particularly untreated roads. Plan accordingly if traveling later today or this evening. #ilwx #inwx

Spring like temperatures are on the way today, highs around Chicagoland will make it into the 50 and low 60s. But don't get used to it, temps in the teens are back by Monday morning.

Visibilities continue to lower down to 1/4 mile for areas north of Interstate 80 in IL. There is lower confidence in how far east dense fog will reach, but the expectation is for visibilities to continue to drop through daybreak. Be careful on the roads this morning. #ILwx #INwx

No White Christmas this year, sorry snow lovers! Historically, Chicago has about a 41% chance of seeing a White Christmas. However, if we look at the most recent 30 year data set (1991-2020) that chance drops to 34%. The last time Chicago had a White Christmas was 2022. #ilwx

Yesterday was the winter solstice, the shortest day (and longest night) of the year. Now, the days will start getting a little longer! Here's a look at how much daylight we gain each day this week.

Winter weather may impact travel this evening and again WED AM. Rain may briefly overlap with freezing pavement, potentially causing slick travel conditions early evening (see inset map). The WED AM commute could also be impacted by wind whipped snow showers/squalls. #ILwx #INwx

Is all the snow helping get you in the holiday spirit? ❄️ In Chicago, this is the quickest start to the snowfall season since 1978! We've picked up about 17" so far, with more snow chances on the way this week. #ilwx
