The targeted attacks on two Jewish-owned Kiva’s Bagel Bar locations are vile and unacceptable. I thank the Toronto Police Service for their ongoing investigation and appreciate their continued efforts to identify those responsible and bring them to justice. We all have a responsibility to stand against hate. I will always stand with Toronto’s Jewish community against antisemitism. We will continue to invest in community safety and the necessary work of confronting hate wherever it exists.

Pride is a celebration of every person’s right to live openly and authentically. The attack at the Christopher Street Day festival in Berlin is horrific. No one should face hatred or violence because of who they are or who they love. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones, and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Berlin and around the world.

An internal email from the ARC Foundation on July 15 states that the Ministry of Education “made the decision to discontinue funding for SOGI 123.” The BC Conservatives say SOGI 123 is defunded. Education Minister Lisa Beare says this is a “lie,” and that it’s “not defunded.”
