This conversation is so triggering on so many levels. I can see Twisha belonged to a decent family and any self respecting woman and her family wouldn't be okay with a mother in law comparing her to prostitutes and slut shaming her for her past relationships. It is absolutely none of her business and only between the couple if at all. The obsession of Indian men with fair skin and virgin brides is so ridiculous.
I have an issue with Twisha's family too, when Twisha revealed these truths, they should have brought her home. Ghirbala and her son are clearly a horrible people. I know how humiliating such conversations are as a woman with in-laws. No woman should feel like she has no where to go. Please do better by your girls. Men who allow their families to speak to their wives like this don't change for anyone, it is futile to reason out with them. Being called a prostitute or randi as a bahu is so common in most Indian homes, yes even the most educated/wealthy ones. If her son used that word, she should have slapped him instead of validating it. I am sure many women here have faced this in some shape or form. Protect your daughters from such monsters.

This is the state of educated people. Decency , civility and good form mean nothing to women like Girbala. Did she ask the same questions to her son , ask for the same accountability as she did of her daughter in law.
Unfortunately, and I hate to say this but women at times are women’s worst enemies.
Let alone men but when women hold different standards of morality, good behaviour, decency between men and women , what chance does a girl have?
