Local journalists with few followers verified. OSS maintainers who run some of the software that are foundational to everything we use with 10k+ followers are rarely, if ever, verified.

Many people I’d consider notable in tech circles were not verified and would not be eligible to be so. Eg leads of popular open source projects, people who wrote a tech book, frequent conference speakers. Within tech Twitter, verification felt broken to start with, to me.
