
@DJSnM @FullOfStarships One of the reasons helium is used (with even higher pressures hydrogen pops up) is to reduce the specific mass of the gas. IIRC, above 6kg/m³ the work of breathing leads to CO₂ retention.

@Robotbeat That's fine if you don't plan to go outside. I don't know where it ended up, but NASA were trading 10.2 PSI & 8.2 PSI for HLS, because prebreath was a pain point with 5x EVAs over 6.5 days. How long is prebreath for ISS EVAs? 8.2 would be 35% O2 & 65% N2.
