Today, I was honored to accompany H.E. President @WilliamsRuto at the official launch of Phase 1 Infrastructure at the @konzatech. This remarkable event marks an important milestone in transforming the landscape of technological innovation and economic advancement in the country and beyond borders. The President commissioned Phase One of Konza’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, including 40km of modern road, 170km of water and drainage systems, 6km of utility tunnels housing fibre optics, a 120MW smart power sub-station, among others. The President toured Konza Technopolis Experience Centre and Intelligence Operations Centre and other infrastructural projects to witness state-of the art facilities and an advanced tech ecosystem for system integration and interoperability. Konza Technopolis is a flagship project of the Government of Kenya, developing as a Science Park and Area of Innovation. Konza brings forth technological advancements and avails vast opportunities for job creation and attracting investors and entrepreneurs from across the globe. In my remarks, I recommended a holistic whole government approach that will onboard all Ministries into pioneering and developing projects at the Konza Technopolis to propel it as the best technological hub in Africa. In attendance were: Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Alice Wahome, Makueni Governor, H.E Mutula Kilonzo Junior, Kajiado Governor H.E Joseph Ole Lenku, Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service Mr. Eliud Lagat, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Communication, Information and Innovation, Hon. John Kiarie, Government Spokesman Hon. Isaac Mwaura, Chairperson of the Standing Senate ICT Committee Hon. Allan Chesang, Chairperson of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority Board, Prof. Raphael Munavu, and Konza Technopolis CEO Mr. John Paul Okwiri. Also present were Principal Secretaries (ICT and the Digital Economy) Eng. John Tanui, (Broadcasting and Telecommunications) Mr. Stephen Isaboke, Principal Secretaries and dignitaries.

Strengthening Kenya–Romania Cybersecurity Cooperation 🇰🇪🤝🇷🇴 Today, we witnessed a significant milestone in advancing secure and trusted digital spaces, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cybersecurity Cooperation between the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Romania. This partnership, led by Kenya’s National Computer and Cybercrimes Coordination Committee (NC4) and Romania’s National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC), reflects our shared commitment to safeguarding our nations from evolving cyber threats. As technology continues to transform our societies, we must equally strengthen our defenses. This agreement provides a framework for information sharing, joint response to cyber incidents, capacity building, and development of advanced cybersecurity solutions. Through collaboration, not isolation, we will foster a safer and more resilient digital environment, one that empowers citizens, supports innovation, and secures our digital economies. I extend sincere appreciation to Her Excellency Gentiana Serbu, Ambassador of Romania to Kenya, and all partners who made this milestone possible. Together, we move forward in building a secure and prosperous digital future for our two nations.

Strengthening Global Partnerships for a Secure Digital Future Today, I had the pleasure of visiting Safetech Innovations, a leading cybersecurity company headquartered in Romania, with operations in the United Kingdom, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. Safetech Innovations has been at the forefront of building a secure digital future since 2011 providing world-class cybersecurity consultancy, security assessments, testing and audit services, incident response, and systems integration. Their Safetech CERT, the first private Computer Emergency Response Team in Romania, stands out as a model for proactive cyber defense. As Kenya advances its digital transformation, partnerships like these are vital. We explored areas of collaboration including cybersecurity capacity building, knowledge exchange, and piloting innovative cybersecurity solutions developed by Safetech. Our goal remains clear to strengthen Kenya’s cybersecurity posture, safeguard our digital infrastructure, and ensure a trusted digital economy for all.

This morning, I paid a courtesy call on the Secretary-General of the Government of Romania, H.E. Ștefan-Radu Oprea a distinguished public servant, accomplished leader, and strong advocate of e-Government transformation. Our discussions focused on strengthening the Kenya–Romania partnership in cybersecurity, digital innovation, and secure digital transformation building on the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding between Kenya’s National Computer and Cybercrimes Coordination Committee (NC4) and Romania’s National Cyber Security Directorate (DNSC). H.E. Oprea commended Kenya’s remarkable progress in e-Government services and reaffirmed his support for closer collaboration in this area. We also explored opportunities for cooperation in capacity building, AI safety, and digital skills development to ensure both our nations remain secure and competitive in the global digital economy. Grateful for the warm hospitality and insightful engagement from Mr. Oprea and his team, as we continue deepening Kenya’s cooperation with Romania and the European digital ecosystem. 🇰🇪🤝🇷🇴

Promoting Kenya’s Culture and Global Presence I had the honour of visiting the Kenyan Cultural Center in Romania, an inspiring initiative spearheaded by Her Excellency, the @FirstLadyKenya RachelRuto, through the @MamaDoingGood program. The Center stands as a beacon of Kenya’s rich cultural heritage and creative excellence, fostering stronger cultural ties, promoting our national identity, and creating new avenues of opportunity for Kenyans both at home and in the diaspora.
