I’m skeptical that we can renationalise ALL utilities but I’d like a proper debate on it and to hear the evidence for it. Back in 2017/2019, borrowing was very cheap. Today it is insanely expensive, taxes are at their highest in about 45 years and we are still borrowing more and more which makes everything else expensive. To nationalise all utilities you’re looking at around £250bn. How exactly are we finding that money? In my view there are much smarter ways to do this that don’t involve giving the health budget to shareholders.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has set out his views on Labour's path forward and the policy challenges facing the country. Speaking to Channel 4 News' Andrew Misra, Burnham said he wanted Labour to become “a party that they can believe in again, a party solidly on the side of working class people.”
