🔥Pub 2013: 74-yo man patient with metastatic colon cancer liver/lung metastases,failed treatment with capecitabine/oxaliplatin/becacizumab. Mebendazole (200mg daily) for 42 days resulted in near complete remission of lungs/lymph nodes metastases/good partial remission in liver. "Second line treatment with capecitabine and irinotecan was started in December 2012." "first evaluation March 2013, significant progression was observed in the lungs and abdominal lymph nodes and there were new partly poorly defined liver metastases up to 8 cm in diameter" "In this situation with no standard therapy left, the drug screen observation in mind, the recent preclinical finding of antitumour effects of mebendazole in a mice model and a case report indicating anti-tumour effect from mebendazole in a patient with metastatic adrenocortical carcinoma" "patient, after informed consent, started mebendazole at the standard antihelmintic dose of 100 mg twice daily, to be continued for six weeks." What fresh hell is this?! A job advert for a haematology PA - with NO medical degree in a specialty with some of the sickest patients to: 🚩review unwell pts 🚩 LEAD ward rounds 🚩procedures including paracentesis, lumbar punctures & bone marrow sampling 🚩discharge patients

@DrNeenaJha Having had 2 lumber punctures and 2 epidurals a PA can f right off if they think their going near my spine. That's like asking dynarod to do a heart stent. Is the hospital sodding mad?

I will never be not bemused by how many national leaders & organisations lost their collective voice and spine when it came to International Medical Graduates. Especially the IMGs themselves in positions of authority Par for the course however when they adopt a similar attitude when it comes to safety of the public Cos whatever they are told to do- they will do. The patient is the expert in their own life, values, preferences, and lived experience. The clinician is the expert in evidence, risk, uncertainty, and how those apply in real situations.

Patients are being asked to navigate increasingly complex healthcare decisions alone, dressed up as “empowerment.” It sounds progressive. In reality, it often means expert support has been stripped away, leaving them to figure it out themselves. 🧵

@MedRegoncall1 That cannot be more dreadful. Consultants being the enablers of ACPs and PAs feels like a stab in the back for us all since that is destroying decent medical care from the inside.

@benn_elisbenn Charlie Falconer needs to come to terms with the fact that he is no longer in the position of power he once held. For him, I think it’s a wholly personal tantrum.

It failed because it was a badly written Bill with few safe guards. Strangely Lord Falconer tried to get the odd safeguards that were there removed. Coercion to being made to feel burden was apparently a good reason to get killed by the state.

@DanielJHannan The entire 2nd chamber should be cleared out of political failures, and cronies and replaced by an elected body. Similar to the US system based on the Counties as theirs is on the States.

The hereditary peers are being turfed out next week. Are they bitter at the ingratitude? Are the demob happy? Not a bit of it. At midnight last night, they were almost all in the chamber, doing their job with a diligence and modesty that puts many life peers to shame.

The destruction of our NHS is being engineered by our own government. Doctors are being left unemployed rather than being taken on by the NHS to shorten queues and provide help to the sick . This is the Labour project the Farage project and the Tory project have no doubt

It’s a matter of will. Tax laws are not set in stone. It’s the government that makes laws. They have the huge bank of experience and intelligence of the civil service to assist them, because mostly they know bugger all, just like you and me.

We need a party of honesty and care, not driven by stupid 19th century political dogma, and not slavishly in thrall to hyper capitalism. We need philanthropists and those unafraid to tax the super rich AND super rich companies leeching off a UK audience. 🧵

All recent governments and the current one have been and are disgusting. Whilst there are some great constituency MPs, the overly ambitious get the cabinet positions. They don’t care about us, the electorate. Whatever awful laws they bring in, they know they are not for them. 🧵
