@KyleAnderson99 @tracewoodgrains I'm gonna need a citation on that one, because I doubt it. What you're probably pointing at is that conservative judges (following Justice Thomas's example) often hire from outside HYS or T14 at a rate that liberal justices don't, but that's more anti-elitism than DEI.

@horsewater @tracewoodgrains Because the Federal Courts have more conservative judges than liberals, and law schools have more liberal students than conservatives, those hired by conservative judges have lower LSATs and GPAs than those by liberals. But it looks equally good on their resumes.

@tracewoodgrains I think this partly explains why there are so many impressive legal voices on the right. They’re arguing with adversarial professors and playing politics to survive in law school while their lefty peers are playing with consensus.

@KyleAnderson99 @Koookiiing If a delivery driver is required for the product to be in the store then they will make zero dollars without drivers. They’ll make zero dollars without factory workers to make the product. And so on. Just how many people need to fight over that 100% of the profit?

@IBenWronged @Koookiiing 1. The word IF has a meaning in the English language and that is why I used it. 2. My larger point is the all employees even “low skilled” employees have value to a successful business and they are mainly limited by a lack of collective bargaining.

@KyleAnderson99 @Koookiiing I go to Sam's, check out on my phone, and walk out the door. I haven't used a cashier there in years. At the regular grocery store I use self checkout half the time because the line is shorter.

@Jayseki @KyleAnderson99 @noremacback The value of cashier is basically whatever is saved in shrinkage from people abusing selfcheckout + some fraction of cost to install machine So, humorously, the value of the cashier is determined not by any labor he provides at all, but our lack of willingness to hang thieves

@KyleAnderson99 @noremacback @Koookiiing also, this whole thing about picking one bottleneck and saying "they couldn't do it without this" is a bit silly. they couldn't sell anything without a working front door, either. so in a very real sense, "everything the store makes relies on the front door"

@KyleAnderson99 @noremacback @Koookiiing if a person decides to buy a ICE car instead of an electric one, for financial reasons, does that mean they are *required* to have one? or just that that was what they chose

@KyleAnderson99 @Koookiiing Yes they certainly can't automate the cashier position. It's impossible. Nobody has even tried it. The global economy would seize up.

@SarahLongwell25 The reason your efforts to stop Trump have failed so far is that you refuse accept that voters ARE that stupid and we need to act accordingly.

Any theory of what's happening to human beings re: marriage and fertility has to explain why young Chinese people and young Americans both became deep marriage-and-family pessimists across the 2010s:
