Flash forward to 2020: I'm playing a demo of "Emily is Away <3" at PAX. I name my character "Emily." @KyleSeeley23 is confused. I'm confused. (but greatly enjoy game, and enjoyed it again when it came out)

I got a Wii when I was 8. I didn't know about avatars so my first Mii was "Ben." Not me, not an imaginary friend, not anyone I knew. It was just "Ben," some guy I made up on the spot, who was my Mii for 6 years. Sometimes we take games culture/knowledge for granted.
