@Pirat_Nation Admittedly, seeing that ray tracing is also becoming mainstream on consoles is kinda cool. I'm kinda curious as to how these will compare within the next few years.

@elaine_lyons_ It's not really the engine, it's more of the Anti-Aliasing solutions used. FXAA was the early 2010's version of TAA.
TAA Is just being sloppily implemented. Afaik, they just use it on the post processing pass instead of the first rendering pass.
My terminology ain't great :P

Even today, Half Life: Alyx feels like it came from an alternate game industry we never got. A hard overcommittment to the tech and techniques of 2000s-2010s gamedev, instead of just accepting the expected modern pipeline at face value.

Silent Hill 2 stutters all over the place and it really ruins the game's atmospheric ambitions. Why is it stuttering? Can it be fixed? In answering those questions I stumbled on something possibly more disturbing than spikes on a frame-time graph. Enjoy!

@Mackerski Still planning to 100% it! I also hope that there are patches coming for the PC version as well. Digital Foundry has a review suited for the developer team's taste :D Other than those issues. Solid remake.

@ChinuaFFXIV @Dachsjaeger I fixed that issue by disabling ray reconstruction, disabling ssr and running shaders on high.

@Dachsjaeger The visual problems mentioned at around 7:15 in the video gets really bad at a later point in the game.
