A 40-year-old Ugandan man, an employee of USAID Uganda Health Activity, has been arrested for allegedly stealing and selling a Toyota Prado vehicle belonging to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for 45 million shillings. The vehicle, valued at 150 million shillings, was stolen on February 10, 2026, and sold in Turkana, Kenya. CCTV footage shows the suspect, wearing a cap and black jacket, entering the vehicle in the hospital parking yard. The suspect allegedly confessed to the crime during a meeting with police and hospital officials. He reportedly used a spare key and disconnected the GPS tracking system. The suspect received 7 million shillings in advance, with the balance paid upon delivery. Police are investigating, and the case will be forwarded to the Resident State Attorney.
