During today’s impact sharing and close out session for the #WeLeadOurSRHR program in Busia and Tororo district, our program officer, Faridah Namukose, shares the milestones of the program and the CHLEG model, where the rights holders have been empowered to save money to expand their source of livelihoods. She further Highlights that, AWAC established a toll-free line, and over 5000 right holders have been able to receive SRSHR information and linked to SRHR services. Additionally, through various trainings and mentorship, the AGYW with multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities have been empowered, and currently, the rights holders can express themselves publically and are able to seek SRHR services at health facilities as well engage law enforcement authorities like police. @SRHRAllianceUg @hivos @HivosROSEA @RestlessDev @TunawezaO

To enhance effective community level interventions in HIV response and access to SRHR services, we have to strengthen goodwill from the strong norm-shift actors like gate keepers. We are thrilled to hold a social cohesion dialogue in Hoima city with different community gate keepers, such as venue/brothel managers, religious leaders, police, Local councils among others! #WorkingInSolidarity @AWACat10 @UNAIDS_UG

We were profoundly grateful to participate earlier today in this year’s edition of the international refugee day at the Rhino base Camp —Terego! This day reminds us of our humanitarian impact in supporting the vulnerable communities that have been affected by displacement, due to political insurgences, and natural disasters. Key messages: This day is a reminder that there is no 'us' of 'them'.there is only us,one human family, connected in ways we seem to forget let us shine in love and be together regardless of our status. #InternationalRefugeeDay @saferheelsUG @ACTAlliance @ACTAllianceEU

As our high risk communities face a deep and significant access challenges for the HIV response services and the stockouts of SRH commodities across Uganda due to the ongoing integration, we are bringing these essential services closer to the people through our ongoing Health and Legal Aid Camp in Hoima City. #HealthAndLegalAid #AWACat10 #WorkingInSolidarity @SpiceFMHoima @UNAIDS_UG @UNAIDS @ACTAlliance @Winnie_Byanyima

Always advocated for this. This time, Uganda's 2025/26 budget has prioritised the health sector. The health sector was given UGX 5.87 trillion, an increase from UGX 2.946 trillion in 2024/25. This allocation supports: HWs, HF_Upgrades & Essential drug #MyHealthMyRight

We are honored to convene a full team meeting today with partners from Uganda Harm Reduction Network (UHRN), Crane Survey, and Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) to review the progress of our MCW-funded cervical cancer prevention project. The discussion centered on key components of the initiative, including ACASI survey data collection method, cervical cancer screening and referral pathways, and community-led implementation strategies. A special spotlight was placed on strides made in reaching vulnerable populations—particularly female sex workers and women who use and inject drugs—as well as challenges faced in this critical work. Together, we explored actionable solutions to overcome barriers and scale impact. We are grateful for the continued collaboration and commitment from all partners as we advance efforts to protect and empower women through early detection and prevention. #AWAC_Partnerships #AWACat10 @MedicalCollege

"Initially, I was afraid of family planning, but AWAC's SRH education opened my eyes. Now, I am a proud user of contraception -I have even chosen a three-year method. It's been life-changing!" Destiny CHLEG member “…….upon joining the Dignity saving group, I was taught how to Make liquid soap. This is a skill I have also used to earn a living —which has enabled me to take care of my two children, and pay school fees for my own education in school am in now.” Emmanuela —Dignity CHLEG member "As a person with hearing and speech impairment, SRHR talks have really impacted my life! I started getting tested for HIV regularly, and it has helped me make better choices - I now have one partner. Being part of the Destiny Girls' CHLEG has also been amazing. We have learned to save together, and when I needed funds to expand my garden, they loaned me some money. I was able to hire two plots of land and grow maize. It's been a game changer!" Rosemary—Destiny CHLEG member These inspiring stories and experiences are just a few of the many highlights from our MakeWay program support supervision in Terego, and Madi Okollo district. Our comprehensive report will feature even more impactful narratives, showcasing the program's positive influence. #MakewayProgram #SRHR4All #AWACat10 @cotauganda @TeregoDLG @OPMUganda @amwaafrika @Wemos @hivos @hivosroea

Cultivating from the results of humanitarian response work and financing for health advocacy, means we have to document the success stories and experiences towards the impact realized. With support from the MakeWay program, we are thrilled to hold a Follow-up workshop on health financing commitments emanating from health financing training workshop on the budget process we had last year —with the district officials and youths from Terego and Madi Okollo district. We are happy to report that through this engagement, the office of DCDO Madi Okollo district has committed to give AWAC SRHR champions a platform to start participating in the Parish planning and budget priority setting activities. Additionally, one vocational training slot from Ministry of Gender through the Office of DCDO has been committed to the AGYWs from Ocea zone. #MakewayProgram #Financing4Health #HealthBudgets #BudgetAccountability #SRHR4All #YouthVoices #AWACat10 @cotauganda @TeregoDLG @OPMUganda @amwaafrika @Wemos @hivos @hivosroea
