I’m seeing a lot of hate toward Lio Rush and his new dark gimmick in AEW right now. I’ll be honest. I’m biased. I’m a big fan of Lio Rush, so I’m probably going to enjoy whatever he does. That said, AEW would get way less backlash for new gimmicks or storylines if they simply did a better job explaining them. Why is Lio Rush “Blackheart” now? When did that change happen? Can he go back to who he was before or is he permanently "Blackheart" now? Those are basic questions the audience should not have to guess. If AEW took the time to properly set things up and tell the story, fans would be a lot more willing to go along with it. But when someone just shows up acting completely different, crawling around like an undead zombie with no explanation, it’s understandable why people are confused.
