On 7/8, Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone stood alongside #LACounty Third District Supervisor @LindseyPHorvath to receive a $968,000 grant from @RepLuzRivas to update the Department’s Pacoima Supply Warehouse. This project supports warehouse renovations & storage improvements that strengthen emergency response operations & helps to ensure firefighters & firefighter paramedics have timely access to the life-saving equipment & resources they need during emergencies.   We are grateful to @RepLuzRivas for this grant and support of the #LACoFD! 📸 Doug Morrison, LACoFD Photographer

#PalmIC Today at approximately 3:12 a.m., #LACoFD FFs responded to a major water main break at N Palm Ave & W Harrat St in #WeHo.     FFs encountered severe flooding, w/fast-moving water rushing down streets & swamping parked cars, apartment complexes & garages, & opening a sinkhole near the Sunset Strip.     FFs performed search & rescue ops in surrounding structures & underground parking garages, also working alongside LADWP to isolate and shut off the source of the water main break. FFs continue to make progress on dewatering affected buildings.   Our immediate priority is to continue supporting impacted residents, businesses & workers while ensuring community safety.

Street closures are as follows: Sunset Blvd. between Larrabee St. and Sherbourne St. Palm St. between Sunset Blvd. and Santa Monica Blvd. Santa Monica Blvd between Larrabee St. and Holloway St.

*UPDATE* The trunk line has been shut down, and #LACoFD teams are conducting a primary search of subterranean parking structures. Unified command is being established. No reports of injuries or other issues at this time.

The fire is currently at approximately 30 acres with structures threatened. An evacuation warning has been issued for Zone SCL-CARLBOYER. 2ND ALARM BRUSH FIRE | FS104 | 21300 Centre Pointe Pkwy #SantaClarita | At 1:40 p.m. #LACoFD responded to a report of a brush fire. A 2nd alarm was requested at 2:08 p.m. The fire is currently at approximately 5 acres. #PointeFire

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for the northwest portion of #LACounty today & tomorrow.   Additionally, #LACounty remains under a EXTREME heat watch through tomorrow.   The combination of extreme heat, dry vegetation & low humidity has the potential to increase wildfire risk. To enhance operational readiness & ensure rapid response capabilities, the #LACoFD has augmented staffing & pre-deployed resources for the duration of the anticipated heat event.
