@AllisonSiobhan @TorontoTeacherX If it's not in the collective agreement it falls under "management rights." In other words, the employer can require online teaching *because* it's not in the collective agreement.

@ContestJean @j_pagsy @MikeJToronto The problem is that if online teaching is not prohibited by the collective agreement, then it can be required by the employer, generally speaking. Whether or not that collective agreement has expired.

All Ontario school boards affected by the #CUPE strike should be offering no more than asynchronous learning until further notice. Synchronous online learning is not equitable, and certainly not a part of any (now expired) teaching contract in Ontario. #onted #ontedsolidarity

I also know people who are deeply religious who refuse to swear on a religious document, because they do not want to mix the justice system with their religion. /6

Is it time to do away with the religious oath entirely, and have witnesses affirm to tell the truth? I think the answer is a resounding yes. Over the past two years I have seen the bizarre spectacle of witnesses being asked over Zoom if they would prefer to swear or affirm. /2

@amandadoeslaw I was recently on a beach late at night near Peggy's Cove in Nova Scotia. Still some light pollution, but the Milky Way was evident. Stars everywhere!

@LindaColbourne @TorontoTeacherX And if I recall correctly, binding arbitration is resisted by governments because while it does avoided disruptive strikes, it also tends to result in reasonable contacts.

@TorontoTeacherX From my angle, fire fighters and police officers have not lost any of their democratic rights when going to arbitration.

@TheEdMain @BrentButt I also use a puck as a door stop - just a pick on the floor that stops the door from banging into the wall.

@BrentButt I have a door stop that I made by stacking two pucks and screwing them together. I first drilled a small hole slightly bigger than the screw head so that it can recess and slapped a piece of dollar store sticky-backed felt on the bottom.

Our garbage bin sits on a sloped alley and it always rolls away or tips. So I cut a hockey puck in half and screwed the 2 sides to the bottom. Join me next week for more "CANADIAN SOLUTIONS".

@rjjago @kwetoday Current edit confuses me. Are you talking about one band or two? The legal name is "New Westminster Indian Band" but it's been renamed Qayqayt by Rhonda Larrabee. She is the chief of Quaqayt band and also created New Westminster band? Is she also chief of New Westminster band?
