New guidance on Inheritance Tax on Pensions: - Family members (beneficiaries) and personal representatives are jointly and severally liable for paying IHT from pension fund. - They have 6 months to pay. - Interest and late payment fees apply after that. - Property held in pensions will often have to be sold to pay the IHT. - The short timeline is likely to create ‘fire sale’ reduced valuations. - Yet IHT is payable on the gross property value pre death/property sale. - Pension providers, trustees, administrators, solicitors, personal representatives and family - all have to liaise and work through the admin - a logistical nightmare. - In a tight window whilst the family is grieving. - And then family beneficiaries pay income tax on income from the net fund - after deduction of inheritance tax. Double tax. - All this to possibly raise £1.5 billion - or about 48 hours of annual NHS spending. Thanks Rachel.

@daviddownie17 He was a lovely footballer- so easy on the eye….but didn’t quite have the awareness to play centre half or nastiness to make it in centre midfield so drifted through his career with no real position….such a shame

A landlord collects £1,200/month rent Pays £1,000/month mortgage interest = Real profit: £200/month. But HMRC doesn't see it that way. Section 24 means higher-rate taxpayers can only claim 20% of mortgage interest as a tax credit, not the full deduction. So they're taxed at 40% on £1,200, then get 20% credit on £1,000 back. Tax bill: £3,360/year on a rental "profit" of £2,400. They're paying more in tax than they actually make. This is why so many landlords are incorporating or selling up.

@Ben_Islington It’s not even just whether it’s a red or not….. the PL after appeal upheld a 3 game suspension for Keane for less than that 🙈 These clowns don’t have a clue!

Joe Hart to TNT: "If the rule is, 'if you pull someone's hair, then you're getting sent off', then that's a red. I'd like to think there's a bit of wiggle room in it. I'm sure if David Moyes is sitting at home watching, then he wouldn't want him sent off for that, either." #EFC

@AlanRNewton @johnmerro1 @FA_PGMOL x.com/alanrnewton/st… Straight out the playbook Secure the result they want then rewrite the rules to justifiable position and refuse to use any previous cases as benchmarks, then insult everyone’s intelligence to claim it was the correct decision 🤡
Alan Newton@AlanRNewton

“Justifiable position” 😂😂 Away from his body, nowhere near (protecting) his face, and clearly unnatural. Again, @FA_PGMOL just make it up as they go. Interesting they didn’t apply that same ruling to the more harshly treated Tarkowski (vs Leeds) and KDH (vs Brighton). Jokers

#BUREVE – 86’ The referee’s call of no penalty to Everton was checked and confirmed by VAR – with it deemed that Anthony’s arm was in a justifiable position, with the ball coming from close proximity.

@elpivoteftbl It’s fine as long as the player retains value over the course of those years and there is a pathway to recoup the fees if required, this is how Chelsea always do ok and United are fucked…

“its only £5m a year over 5 years for transfer fee” your still committing to pay £25m, these start to add up. Man U owe close to £400m in fees. Say over the next 5 years they have to pay £80m a year to service it, that means spending £80m b4 you even bring new players each year

I’m just going to say it - and yeah, plenty won’t like it - but the excitement around the Oasis reunion isn’t just about the tunes. It’s about Britain. About a time when things still sort of made sense. When the country felt more grounded, more stable, less like it was spiralling into some third-world, open borders clusterfuck. The music matters, of course... but so does the memory of a nation that hadn’t completely lost the plot.

Despite multiple people telling him this is a lie, he has refused to delete this tweet or retract it. Despite the full clip showing I was saying the opposite. Why? Because deceit is all Israel's cheerleaders have.
Adam Ma'anit@adammaanit

Ideological zealotry is a sword and a cloak, wielded by manic street preachers jabbing accusatory fingers at passers by. Owen loves to threaten that we’ll be “judged” by history. Let him be judged forever by these words: “What else was Hamas supposed to do on October 7?”
