@scriptwren H had student tutor him maths and physics he was brilliant with him. Have since recommended him to other people and they can’t speak highly enough of him either.

@vieirafanclub @Rotwang9000 @Mat_denatale @PolitlcsUK @JackElsom I don’t see this as dumbing down at all. They have to learn & memorise more across all subjects than I did doing GCSE’s in 1995.
English

@vieirafanclub @Rotwang9000 @Mat_denatale @PolitlcsUK @JackElsom My kids did GCSE’s in 2023 and 2025 - due to Covid and missing parts of secondary education they were given formulas in physics. They still had to know them and understand how to apply them. Def not told which one to use. 1/
English

🚨 NEW: The Government is officially dropping the requirement for GCSE students to memorise equations for maths, physics and science exams

English

@Miss_Snuffy My children have 12 yrs between them in a school with rules such as no physical contact, only allowed 6-8 in a group at break. They can only recall 1 fight in whole time at the school. Am sure there were others but not a usual occurrence due to rules & strict enforcement of them
English

Exactly this. 👇
We aren’t allowed to impose order in schools.
That’s the PUBLIC who come for us.
Only few heads survive the inevitable mob attacks.
Dominic@le0nardpoetry
When a school puts the measures in place to avoid this kind of thing, their teachers and leadership get hounded on Twitter and in local/national papers until they relent and roll back. And this keeps happening and will continue to
English

@OhLottie @Samstricko181 That’s exactly how I read it. I think people are deliberately twisting it
English

@Samstricko181 I read it as “not every behaviour issue in class is related to an additional need” whereas it seems some in the comments read it as “children with additional needs ruin learning.” The latter would be deeply problematic but I didn’t get that from your original tweet.
English

Some people have lost their minds over this. We are in a very worrying situation if we feel every misbehaviour needs a reasonable adjustment or support. Sometimes kids misbehave & simply need firm boundaries and to be told no. If this is controversial then education is a mess
Sam Strickland@Samstricko181
Ruining the learning of other pupils is not an additional need.
English

@Samstricko181 I think your first post was, by some, deliberately mis interpreted.
English

For those that need clarity…
We shouldn’t assume all poor behaviour is the result of an additional need
Often clear boundaries & the use of no is needed
In secondary teenage development, a normal passage of a child’s development, is why a kid may misbehave
Sam Strickland@Samstricko181
Ruining the learning of other pupils is not an additional need.
English

@grahamchatterl2 No but maybe that support is difficult to provide in the classroom
English

@LBGHackney Doesn't mean we get to choose which children are deserving of support depending on how well they conform

Tom doesn't want disability to impact his life or the lives of his Neurotypical children
This is why we treat disabilities with contempt
Tom's attitude and continued punching down is one of the major contributing factors to why we have no empathy

TR's Friday thought for the day - Who are we actually including when we talk about 'inclusion'? #inclusion #behaviour #schools #teaching #teachertok #teachersoftiktok
English

@grahamchatterl2 It’s incredibly difficult for schools to manage when needs vary so much.
English

@grahamchatterl2 Maybe I am reading it wrong then but people are saying Tom is being ableist but I don’t read it that way. Neurotypical children can be disruptive / SEND children can be quiet and want to get on without disruption. 1 or 2 pupils shouldn’t disrupt the learning of others.
English

@Mouhssin_Ismail Totally agree. My children attended both these schools and could not be more grateful for the education and support they received
English

@Britinfloridaus @oldishbird1 @David_Cameron Hackney still has incredibly high
Numbers of child poverty hackneycitizen.co.uk/2025/11/17/hac… the idea it is some sort of middle class gentrified bubble is wrong.
English

@oldishbird1 @David_Cameron You do not know what you are talking about. As for the gentrication. That is. Very small area. Mossbourne was the first which opened in 2002. The others followed. But as maintained schools they were still failing. You ever worked in Hackney. I doubt it. I have.
English

@oldishbird1 @Britinfloridaus @David_Cameron I think the learning trust did a good job esp with primary schools but
Success of Hackney secondary education is driven by acadamies and the hard work and dedication of staff.
English

@Britinfloridaus @David_Cameron That was largely a result of the formation of the Hackney Learning Trust in 2002. Most of the improvement in Hackney schools predates academisation. What works is rapid intervention, strong leadership, good governance etc. Hackney also significantly gentrified during that period.
English

@Britinfloridaus @oldishbird1 @David_Cameron Education in Hackney was absolutely dire news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education… second Mossbourne school opened after local campaign to keep a secondary school
On that site after cardinal pole moved.
English

@oldishbird1 @David_Cameron So you have no knowledge of the examples I had given. I can see you are anti academisation which was one of the few the few good things that Blair gave the nation. Let headteachers use their professional experience to make judgements not town hall bureaucrats
English

@LaindonFEMINIST @HeatherJeeves Same and in Hackney they have aligned themselves with Hackney Independent Socialist Group which makes them very unappealing. I used to split my vote in locals but won’t be this time hackneycitizen.co.uk/2026/01/22/gro…
English

@HeatherJeeves Me too. They were always in my back pocket particularly in the locals. I’d never vote for them now.
English

@LBGHackney @policylaila These chancers owe their entire political careers to hanging off the coattails of others. That's literally the only reason for it. Devoid of talent, ideas, and scruplles.
English

@jonburkeUK @policylaila It reminds me of the memes of Paddington leading people to heaven. All very strange. Not sure what a penguin and snowy mountains have to do with London
English

@greeborunner I honestly think such a good idea. I think hard for schools to implement as a new policy with pushback from pupils and parents. We knowingly sent kids to school knowing a blanket ban in place so never an issue.
English

@meganekenyon @NewStatesman Would have been more inclined to vote for them if hadn’t aligned themselves with Hackney Indepdent Socialist Group.
English

Hackney is a crucial target seat for the Green Party at this year’s local elections. I followed the local party on a day of canvassing, and spoke to the Greens’ hopefuls for mayor and deputy mayor, Zoë Garbett and Dylan Law.
