@panickedwagon @AlecMuffett Yes it might be different were they selling something but this is like the user going over, getting given a toy there and then bringing it back. There's no expectation that it should follow British rules.

@AlecMuffett They really need to try and understand that on the internet, it's like going abroad for a quick visit to wherever the website is based. You play by the host country's laws, not your own.

Ofcom persist in pretending that 4chan are trading in the UK, rather than accepting that Britons are visiting a foreign website

@nicesatanist @MoroseJerk If this really is shot then it's a perfect example of why it's so stupid. I just block on sight... I wanna find the original post just so I can block them. Normal words don't lose them views, but blocks do!

@D_the_Designer @AutismCapital I attribute this to the rise of the internet. Before, there were limited big things to follow but now you could join any niche. So eg. Music. On the face of it, music died. we got Coldplay & Idol crap, but actually individual genres were thriving, each with their own aesthetic

@AutismCapital 90s. Not even sure the early 00s really had a distinct aesthetic and that it wasn't just a continuation of the 90s in some ways. Lots of people are retrospectively Pinteresting whole aesthetics into being which didn't really exist as a distinct "thing." Like Frutiger Aero.

What was the last decade that had a distinct aesthetic? 50s, aesthetic. 60s aesthetic, 70s aesthetic, 80s, aesthetic, 90s, aesthetic, 00s, aesthetic. Did it stop in the 2010s? Every decade you can pair with a music genre and an art style. What can you say about 2010+? It stopped.

All of this would be solved if X implemented a satire button. We’ve said it a hundred times. They have an AI disclosure button. They have a paid partnership button. Just add one more. A satire button. Boom. Instant problem solved. This button takes the weaponized community notes option away from many bad actors. It’s your discretion whether you use or not. But for jokes that you feel could be intentionally misconstrued by bad actors it’s a great tool to have to prevent people from attacking. Please add this feature! It’s so simple and such a value add.

@ijmcfarland228 @modernheroestv Most of theirs recently look like bad copies of bad chinese copies of german cars drawn from a badly translated description. This, doesn't! The name seems correct- more like the old i3 was named wrong.

This meningitis outbreak doesn’t feel like a major national emergency. But UK state capacity is so reduced we struggle to deal with even minor emergencies. Our society seems fragile.

@NoToDigitalID A digital ID could be useful in certain situations and would be better decentralised (Didn't they try this at one point?) ... but they'll end up requiring it to use a VPN or access any internet.

Would you accept a decentralised Digital ID? It’s been proposed as alternative from some crypto friends.

There is a Wetherspoons in Uxbridge. It’s called The Good Yarn, it’s opposite Tesco. A couple of doors away there’s a brilliant Irish pub called Whelans that does great Thai food. Uxbridge also has three Green King pubs and lots of other pubs. Plenty of restaurants, especially chicken and burger shops. Sadly no traditional fish and chip shop nowadays! Perhaps someone will open one, or a proper pie and mash even! Yes, there are lots of Allan’s Snack-bars and a Bill the Baker without a Bill in sight! 😂

A Group of guys, all turning 40, discussed where they should meet for lunch... Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the waitresses had big breasts and wore mini-skirts. Ten years later, at age 50, the friends once again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the waitresses were attractive. The food and service were good, and the beer selection was excellent. Ten years later, at age 60, the friends again discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because there was plenty of parking, they could dine in peace and quiet with no loud music, and it was good value for money. Ten years later, at age 70, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because the restaurant was wheelchair accessible and had a toilet for the disabled. Ten years later, at age 80, the friends discussed where they should meet for lunch. Finally, it was agreed that they would meet at Wetherspoons in Uxbridge because they had never been there before.

🚨 Another call to arms 🚨 Buried in this 'consultation' on a UK social media ban is something even darker. Snuck in towards the back are seemingly innocuous questions about 'age checks to use VPNs'. Having groomed you via the preceding questions about protecting children, they'll be expecting you to 'strongly agree'. Link to the consultation is below, as is a link to the excellent guide from @BigBrotherWatch on how to fill it in. You know what to do!

🆔Government to public: Do you want digital ID checks to be used to enforce a social media ban for under-16s ☐ Yes ☐ Definitely yes ☐ Strongly yes ☐ Yes 100% The “consultation” doesn’t appear to have a box for disagreeing.
