Prostate Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in men in the UK. I raised in @UKHouseofLords this week the need for more PSA testing for men at high risk and rapid adoption of more reliable forms of screening.

With temperatures set to soar, it’s time to heatproof our healthcare services. We are calling for cool wards in every hospital and care homes as urgent action to protect the most vulnerable from rising temperatures.

With extreme weather becoming increasingly common, we need urgent action to protect lives and our NHS. The Government must open community cooling hubs such as gyms, leisure centres, and libraries to protect vulnerable people from heatwaves this summer and provide relief from extreme heat.

We must do more to boost survival rates across all types of cancer. Liberal Democrats have a plan to make the UK a world leader in cancer treatment. ⬇️

This damaging backdown in the face of lobbying by the alcohol industry will not get much coverage given other backdowns. But is is very disappointing that this Government has run away from the need for Minimum Unit Pricing for alcohol (preferably progressive according to strength) and backed down on health information.

This smoke and mirrors spending review was a huge missed opportunity to break with years of Conservative neglect and finally start delivering change. The investment in health announced today will simply go to waste if we don’t address the elephant in the NHS waiting room - the crisis in social care. The social care review must be completed this year - not in three years - and local authorities must be given the resources to care for people in the community, not in hospitals.
