Something that makes me sad about this online genre if you will. When I write apologetically about Mormonism, for example, the impression that LDS people have is that I’m anti-Mormon or I don’t like them. I truly enjoy being around LDS people.

Father, we both believe in the resurrection of Christ but I believe you may not be addressing his core claim. We agree and affirm the testimony of the apostles, however when we talk about primary contemporary accounts of the resurrection, it is indisputable that there are more of the golden plates. At best we have 4 primary accounts of the resurrection (and that’s being extremely generous, most historians would say we have 0, maybe 1). You can’t quote a primary account that mentions someone else (including the 500) if we don’t have their individual accounts. Otherwise it’s not primary. This comparison arises from fellow Christians that ridicule our belief in the golden plates. It’s simply a measure by which we can point out a double standard we see.

A Mormon claimed that Christians have only one contemporary witness to the Resurrection, the Apostle Paul, while Mormonism supposedly has seven. That is simply not true. The Christian faith was not built by people sitting around waiting for a Bible to be published. The Church was preaching the death, burial, and Resurrection of Christ from the very beginning. Thousands believed, were baptized, celebrated the Eucharist, and even suffered martyrdom before the New Testament was complete. The Scriptures themselves preserve multiple apostolic witnesses. St. Matthew, St. John, St. Peter, and St. Paul all bear witness to the risen Christ. St. Luke tells us he carefully investigated the testimony of eyewitnesses before writing his Gospel (Luke 1:1-4). St. John writes, “That which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes… and our hands have handled… declare we unto you” (1 John 1:1-3). St. Peter proclaims, “This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses” (Acts 2:32). St. Paul also preserves an even earlier apostolic tradition, listing the appearances of the risen Christ to Peter, the Twelve, more than five hundred brethren at once, James, all the apostles, and finally himself (1 Corinthians 15:3-8). This is not Paul’s private opinion. It is the faith he “received” and handed on to the Church. St. Irenaeus, writing in the second century, pointed to the apostolic churches spread throughout the world as preserving the same faith received from the apostles. Christianity has always rested upon the public witness of the apostles, faithfully preserved in Scripture and in the life of the Church. This is not a matter of choosing between one man’s testimony and another’s. It is the historic witness of the Church to the risen Christ, proclaimed continuously for nearly two thousand years.
BIG K@BIGKLDS

I honestly don’t understand why Christians believe Jesus rose from the dead, when they only have 1 primary and contemporary source which is Paul. Do they rely on a burning in the bosom or something?? Latter Day Saints have 7 primary and contemporary witnesses! Come join us!

Question for Mormons: If the Book of Mormon was only 1 Nephi, do you think it would have been impossible for Joseph Smith to come up with by himself? (The NHM debate has been had, so I’m not getting into that here) Do you think that book is too long for him to have dictated…

We live in a strange time. We focus on certain sins, and claim they are somehow specially egregious. My serious fear, how many Christians, who because of their affiliation, their group, etc., believe they are uniquely saved, and yet will burn in hell forever end ever. ✝️

I’ve noticed that ever since AI, there seems to be far more Mormon critical “experts” that have read the entire Book Of Mormon and are prepared to launch a thesis level argument in perfectly constructed sentences as to why it’s false. Anyone else notice this trend?
