@PaulSkallas I’m all for chivalry, the man paying, meeting near her, etc…. But sending a car is a little much.

This is very third world type dating practice. Places where the economy is bad the woman has to test if the man has any resources by demanding things like this. Common in African American community. Whereas in places where both parties know resources aren't a problem the date is about chemistry and connection over a walk or a coffee
mads campbell@martyrdison

every good man i’ve ever been on a date with has sent a car (usually black car) it’s very weird to not send a car and also, when you’re dating, you should be on your boyfriend/husband’s uber family account i don’t see why this is controversial

Donald Trump was President when the country shut down in 2020. Donald Trump was President when Dr. Fauci took the main stage. Donald Trump was President when social distancing, face masks, and curfews started. Donald Trump was President for Operation Warp speed. Donald Trump was President when your businesses were closed. Donald Trump was President when you couldn't visit your dying grandma in the hospital. Donald Trump was President when schools shut down. Don't you ever tell me he isn't partially responsible for what happened to America in 2020.

So glad you asked - here's how we win: The machinery of narrative control (by which managerial liberal regimes were previously steered) has been shattered, which means that *no one* can coordinate & steer the system This means that we cannot coordinate to dislodge the incumbents - but it also means that incumbents cannot coordinate to steer around any of the crises that the system is shambling into Those crises, in rough order of urgency: 1. The fiscal crisis: the system cannot prevent the bleed of internal looting & devaluation of currency No political will exists to arrest this process, & by 2035 the debt will equal the value of all US equities - the govt will have effectively "eaten" the stock market Unclear at what point the bond markets will puke - but if a thing can't go on forever, it won't 2. The security crisis: Managerial liberal states can no longer marshal the political will to fight and win wars So when US hegemony is tested, USG either has to withdraw (emboldening the next challenger, & breaking the freedom of the seas on which the global economy rests) or try to fight from beyond visual range at overwhelming expense to avoid casualties So the security crisis accelerates the fiscal crisis, & the fiscal crisis accelerates the security crisis 3. The demographic crisis: The compact between young & old has broken, & the young are "quiet quitting" the arrangement, withdrawing from family life & its precursors either by choice or by circumstance The burden of a growing population of the old is falling on a dwindling population of the young, which makes it still harder to form families - a positive feedback loop Each of these crises is a structural consequence of headless managerial liberalism - which means that decline & fragmentation will continue until the pieces are small enough to be capturable by human agency So, how do we win? By rebuilding human institutions capable of long-term thinking & coordinated action, which can navigate the coming volatility in ways managerial states cannot - & which adopt responsibilities that the state abdicates as it sheds capacity It's not clear how deep that fragmentation has to progress before recapture becomes possible, but a) fragmentation and decline are certain, and b) the people who are better organized ahead of time will be in the best position to pick up the slack On the specific question of revitalizing blighted inner cities: The federal government currently props up corrupt & decaying state & municipal governments, & enforces the civil rights regime that prevents the healing of urban blight If 2028 goes our way, we may get cracks in that system sooner, with Trump's stand-down of civil rights enforcement becoming permanent law, & parasitic Leftist institutions catching the brunt of austerity measures in the 2030s Otherwise the state may have to gradually lose the *capacity* to enforce such directives before anything can be rebuilt That way is harder, messier, & takes longer - which is good, because we'll need all the time we can get to build for it Either way, the future belongs to human institutions, & we win by building them exitgroup.us

‘The Americans’ was a good show. A Cold War spy thriller about Russians so integrated into American society that no one could tell. But what it did really well is show how communism destroys personal bonds. Friends/family lost all trust - and that’s the core evil.

NYC Communist Mayor Mamdani announces his city-run grocery stores will set prices 30% below retail prices. What he leaves out is that the missing 30% is paid for by YOUR tax dollars. How long do you think this will last?

It’s beyond obvious that our nation is controlled by China. -We are merging our military with China. -We send China billions in American tax dollars. -We fight China’s battles for them in Asia. -China spends billions influencing our elections. -Trump surrounds himself with people who are openly pro-China. We are an occupied country.

@girlatlawstuff This isn’t the first time Crossgates has done this. IIRC, they tried this about 25 years ago and it lasted for a few years.

In response to someones comment, I truly don't want to post this as rage bait, people are really struggling out here. It is strange to have such a system for needy people that can so easily be abused, and used by people who are not destitute could be not working or choosing to spend their money on other things. Many will opt to not buy groceries when this is an option.

Jeff Flake was on NPR tonight to talk about Graham. He spoke fondly of his former Senate colleague, who he personally liked a great deal (as did everyone apparently), but couldn’t countenance his embrace of Trump. It occurred to me that these two succinctly embody the two paths for the old GOP: align with Trump and stick around as one of the most influential figures in American life, or stubbornly, and sanctimoniously refuse and spend the back end of your career doing Sunday night hits on Democratic Party Radio. A valuable lesson there.

This interview should be studied by future generations. It's that crazy. 2019. Colbert interviews Ellen Page. Colbert opens by awkwardly making fun of how short Page is. Page then starts complaining that Hollywood is too binary. Page then claims that the world will end by 2030 because of climate change and says that climate change is as real as the Jussie Smollett attack. (Ironically, she was right about that.) Page ends with a very emotional performance, blaming Trump for the vicious, racist attack on Smollett. Wow.

The State Fair debacle is the end of @realDonaldTrump as a cultural force. Trump has always been uncool in a cool way, he’s so in love with himself and his own awful taste you appreciate him even if you hate him. But this is just a box-office bomb, and it makes him look so old.

@EvanAKilgore @CNN I think it depends on what you define “America” as. The place, the people, the original intent of the founders? Awesome. The current government? Awful.

HOLY CRAP: @CNN just aired a poll saying that only 27% of Democrats are "extremely proud" to be an American. 36% of Democrats say they are "not proud whatsoever" to be American. Absolutely sickening numbers. Democrats hate America.
