The Miami Marlins today selected right-handed pitcher Luke Lashutka out of St. Leo University (St. Leo, Fla.) with the 574th overall selection in the 2024 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Lashutka, 22, went 14-2 with one complete game, one save, a 3.80 ERA (72 ER/170.2 IP), and 171 strikeouts against 37 walks in four seasons split between St. Bonaventure University (2021) and St. Leo University (2021-24). The six-foot-two-inch, Fairview Park, Ohio native was named First Team ABCA and Rawlings All-American last season after compiling a 10-1 record in 15 starts, along with a 2.88 ERA (32 ER/100.0 IP) that ranked third in the Sunshine State Conference.
