We also have leverage. We've done nothing with it. Instead, our PM makes speeches at Davos, rallies countries against Trump, and steadfastly avoids the negotiating table. Sure, we can keep hoping for a midterm miracle. But hope isn't a strategy. Time for Canada to come of age.
Ben O'Hara-Byrne@Ben_oharabyrne

@KatlynHarrison Perhaps. But Trump reneging on the initial deal given the leverage they had also says a lot of about how they’re approaching the bilateral relationship as well. Doesn’t absolve Carney from living up to his campaign promises, but team Trump is hardly an innocent party in all this

😂 This lady from Manitoba is spitting facts and she’s spicy about it. It’s hotter than hell out there and she’s still taking time to roast the clowns who started a petition to kick Pierre Poilievre out of the official Leader of the Opposition residence. Newsflash: That house has been provided since 1950. 76 years. 25 different leaders of the opposition — Liberals, NDP, Conservatives. Pierre is just the latest one entitled to it, same as the rest. But because it’s Pierre… suddenly it’s a national emergency? Give your heads a shake. These people didn’t give a damn when it was their guys living there. This is pure partisan pettiness dressed up as “principle.” Meanwhile the real problems destroying Canada? They weren’t caused by the opposition leader. They were caused by the Liberals who’ve been in power for over 11 years — and now Mark Carney is running the same failed playbook. Housing crisis. Out-of-control spending. Crime. Economy in the tank. The opposition’s job is to hold the government accountable. Giving them the tools to do that job isn’t a perk — it’s how our system is supposed to work. Stop obsessing over Pierre and start paying attention to the people who actually wrecked this country. #cdnpoli #PierrePoilievre #MarkCarney #LiberalFail

The bridge is a flashpoint because our government has actively undercut our relationship with the US admin. Had we rapidly advanced Fortress North America, approved pipelines, amassed strategic mineral reserves - we may not be here rationalizing our weakened state. #cdnpoli
Ben O'Hara-Byrne@Ben_oharabyrne

PM defends bridge deal - the optics aren’t great, obviously. But, from the critics, what would you have done differently? Suppose we could have kept it shut and waited to see if midterm pressure might have softened Trump’s demands, but it would be generate 0 revenue in that case

#BREAKING: Another big LOSS for the Master Negotiator Corrupt Mark Carney. Hyundai Motor is effectively withdrawing its planned 3.4 trillion won hydrogen investment in Canada. This centered around Hanwha Ocean securing the contract for Canada’s next-generation submarine project.

As prime minister, Mark Carney's strategy has been to expect two things: 1. That the MSM will provide political cover for him. 2. That his base is too retarded to figure out he’s full of shit. So far, his plan is working.

Blame Trump for everything? Trump didn’t let 5 million refugees into Canada. Trump didn’t drive up our housing costs. Trump’s not responsible for our broken justice system or our failing healthcare system. Trump didn’t slap regulatory and environmental burdens on our businesses.
John Mark Taylor@prairiecentrist

That’s because Canadians aren’t stupid. Conservatives have a totally wrong idea here. They need to be blaming Trump for absolutely everything. Blaming Mark Carney only hurts them at this point in time.

Proof CBC is simply a Propaganda Organ I was at a private social event in Alberta recently. In attendance was a very senior CBC person in Alberta. He was boasting about the PMO being in contact with him daily regarding coverage of the Alberta Independence issue. I mentioned that I knew many of the senior leaders of the Alberta Independence movement for decades, and know them to be serious professionals with genuine concerns. The senior CBC person had zero idea who any of the Alberta Independence leaders were, and knew next to nothing about the concerns of Albertans desiring independence. I mean next to nothing. He very quickly realized he had made a mistake boasting about his daily contact with the PMO. I realized very quickly that he and the CBC are not in the news business - they are in the Propaganda business. Realize where Canada is at - CBC is now Pravda. @ikwilson @ezralevant @RiseOfAlberta @nspector4

In what fair world does Canada pay for the entire construction of the Gordie Howe bridge and immediately share revenues with the USA? WHY?

LIBERALS ARE TO BLAME FOR YOUNG CANADIANS LIVING IN THEIR PARENTS BASEMENTS🛑🚨🇨🇦 Liberals prioritize investor bailouts, high immigration, and corporate tax subsidies. This balloons housing demand and leaves young Canadians priced out of homes and facing a brutal job market.🚨

Any Canadians travelling to the US for any reason should not use the Ambassador Bridge. The bridge's owner caused this mess. Idc what anyone says, the Gordie Howe Bridge is owned by Canadians. I don't blame the government for the deal they made. The Bridge needs to open no matter what. What the US did was extortion. No wonder no country trusts the Trump regime. Their words or contracts mean nothing.

Weeks after the BC condo bailout announcement and we still don’t know who gets paid, what affordability means, or where the financing comes from. Vaughn Palmer is right to keep pressing. Governments count on people losing interest before the real details show up. Keep asking the questions they hope you forget. That is how bad deals get stopped.
