Israel spent 2 years running an elaborate lobbying campaign to have Hamas added to this UN sex-abuse blacklist, making the case that the UN designation was thorough, evidence-based and widely respected, which was why it was so important for them to get Hamas added to it. Now that Israel has been added to it, they say the whole thing is a sham.
Israel Foreign Ministry@IsraelMFA

The shameful and absurd UN decision to include Israeli entities in the annex to the CRSV report is further proof of the UN’s true nature: a politicized and corrupt organization that has abandoned its founding principles and systematically targets Israel as its primary mission. This decision is yet another example of the UN’s long-standing, institutionalized hostility toward Israel. Today’s decision must be understood in its true context: an attempt to create a fake symmetry between Israel and the real sexual atrocities committed by Hamas. This is its sole motivation. The person behind this farce is @AntonioGuterres. This is the same Guterres who sought to "contextualize" the October 7 massacre, who covered up the involvement of UN employees in those atrocities, and who has dragged the UN to its lowest point. Guterres is now exploiting his final months as Secretary-General to fabricate baseless accusations against Israel, completely devoid of any factual merit. Israel has comprehensively, thoroughly, and unequivocally refuted these allegations. Given that António Guterres has chosen to violate every standard of honesty, integrity, and professionalism, Israel has decided to sever all ties with the Secretary-General’s Office and will wait until a new UN Secretary-General is appointed.

I think the normalization of vulgarity and barbarism in politics is bad, but Trump and the new right mainstreamed it. When Rob Reiner and his wife were brutally murdered, Trump danced on their graves, and the right thought it was hilarious. When he mocks widowers, the right thinks it's hilarious. When JD Vance was asked if he would apologize for slandering Alex Pretti as an assassin after the feds killed him in cold blood, Vance smirked to show just how much he does not care about Americans being murdered by his administration, and the right loved that too. You can't break all the rules of decorum, say "Fuck your feelings," which the right has, and then cry like a baby when people treat you the way you treat them.

well on the one hand, Ken Paxton is a corrupt politician who was impeached by his own party for corruption, let a child rapist get 60 days in prison (and signed a deal to let him spend just one day in jail, and has generally been regarded by both parties as the most corrupt politician in America. but on the other, James Talarico respected vegans at a campaign event, said things to make LGBTQ members of his community feel safe and included, and chose to represent everyone in his district, not just people that looked like him. this is a tough choice, i agree. both very disqualifying resumes.
Kimberly Ross@SouthernKeeks

I’ll be honest, and many of you will hate this, but neither Paxton nor Talarico would get my vote. Both are disqualifying for multiple reasons. Don’t beclown yourself and twist into ridiculous shapes trying to convince everyone your chosen disaster is somehow principled.

No one thinks this. It takes an astonishing level of cope to believe this, especially when right wing politicians are constantly trying to pass “vaporize every animal on sight” bills and the “bulldoze every national park” acts

His guys story is that they had a heated argument, they calmed down, and then he took her upstairs to “show her his gun” and it accidentally went off and killed her. And Texas prosecutors were like yeah that checks out you’re free to go lmfaooo

🚨 A Republican Dad shot and killed his liberal daughter after an argument about Trump. Just before killing her, he told her that he would “not be upset” if Trump sexually assaulted her.

I think this episode perfectly encapsulates the new right: Trump says he doesn't care about Americans. JD Vance is asked what he thinks about that, and the quote is read to him word for word, but all he can do, because he has no spine, no moral compass, no self-respect for himself as an American, is deny that Trump said it at all. Then Trump doubles down, knowing full well that his base will swallow his contempt for them, and that no one around Trump, least of all dogs on leashes like Vance, would dare ask him to mask his hatred for the average person, while conservative media from The Blaze to The Daily Wire will praise Trump for being so refreshingly candid about how much he hates this country and its people, which they will also call patriotism.

Trump on saying he doesn't think about Americans' financial situation: "It's a perfect statement. I'll make it again. Everybody agrees."
