Yep. Let’s get the guy who clearly had his eyes elsewhere whilst playing here, cos he ‘understands’ the club. First wanted Arsenal, then bounced to Madrid. And then years later, showed no real interest when Liverpool were in the picture because he was waiting for Madrid. Yeah. He absolutely ‘understands’ the club. Our club that values loyalty? He didn’t show much to us when it mattered. Xabi Alonso was a fantastic player, one of my all-time favourites. Generational passer. And he’s a decent coach too. But this idealisation of him is bordering on stalker level delusion. His football isn’t broadly different to Slot’s, bar some variance in his OOP approach. Some of that variance being key. He dropped off dramatically in 24/25 with an unchanged core squad with additions on top of it. 13 points behind a Bayern who were very average last year in the BL, and a whole 21 points behind his own total from 23/24. And he bounced out of every cup tournament, including getting soundly beaten at Anfield. His team regressed without any clear structural or external drivers. No drama. He then wildly misread the room at Madrid, lost the confidence of multiple players and deployed some turgid football to boot. People keep looking at his win rate as some great achievement, but quickly forget how easily his team crumbled under the slightest hint of superior opposition or pressure. Not to mention he did not find a way to effectively platform their best players as a coherent unit. So he’s had a broadly average 24 months. And simultaneously keeps briefing media that he wants the job whilst there is someone employed to do it. But somehow he’s the guy who ‘understands Liverpool’? A club that values integrity and honesty? Sell me an ice cream in the Antarctic. Sounds like people just want a shiny fucking new toy because they don’t actually know what else to suggest to improve the club’s fortunes. Even though the answer is simple. Rebuild the squad. Rest the existing players psychologically. Have a banging pre season, even with a WC in the middle, and go the fuck again with the coach that won the League in stable circumstances and navigated through a brutal stream of pain and tragedy last summer. And even though there’s been a torrent of abuse constantly directed at him, he’s kept a cool head. Because his leadership during that time shows something clearly. He knows and understands the club. That much is clear and evident.

Last thing I will say about Szobo. There is no winning. If a player does good because rest of the team isnt, he is a shit player. If a player does “okay” when a team is winning, he isnt good…. So no matter what you wont be happy? The narrative of a player being good and carrying a team “only because the rest are bad” and not appreciating the player is such a weird view. Its not a fault of their own. Its simple, you just dont like the player and thats okay but dont spin things around to fit a narrative. Scores importsnt goals …”he scored only few freekicks” he isnt good. Works hard for the team… “all he does is run” nothing else. Plays at rb a lot of the season to do whats good for the team despite obviously us needing him in midfield…”well, he is never open and is scared of the big moment” Yet we have much bigger issues but go on and blame the one bright spot throughout this season. So odd. Dont understand it. You can be upset about what happened after the game. No problem. But dont say the guy doesnt give his all and has been good for us this season.

They're easy enough to find but if you're really struggling, ring the disability line like you've been told, they'll get you seats
