Tbf everything about a 9-game losing streak is flukey. This team stinks rn but even really bad teams find a way to win one in nine. This is an albatross at the moment

I've given Stearns significant benefit of the doubt but, man, even missing Soto, it's hard to see how these Mets will suddenly morph into a good team. Red flags everywhere: offense, defense, and now the pitching as Senga is a mess. Nothing fluky about the 9-game losing streak.

in re to the semien nimmo trade
if we look at it as a straight 1:1 trade (lame imo) then yes, mets are losing that one right now
but if we look at the actual factors that went into making the trade
choosing between
nimmo/baty or ronny 2B
OR
benge/semien
the mets clearly werent high on either of those 2B everyday and were
1) high on semien from a defensive and character standpoint
2) high on benge as a big league talent esp considering nimmo himself came out and said mets told him he’d be playing less so young guys could play
its way too early to judge the deal. but if benge works out the mets 100% won by getting out of nimmos 5 year deal. time will tell #LGM

This is horseshit. There are plenty of reasons to pile on the Mets right now, this isn't one of them. Pretty sure this was an 11 pitch at bat. Mr. Smile, Francisco Lindor, had a great AB here. Fouled off a bunch of pitches. The smile here is basically to Ohtani, "you got me".
