@DinaMendola @marriamath This is a talking point at our school. I say they’re Figurative and need to think through screened or partially screened collections where one addend is more than 5. Thoughts?

@DinaMendola @marriamath: A child can handle 4 + 2 screened by CF1 on fs. When given 6+3, makes 6, says “I don’t have enough fingers.” I say, “Show me.” She makes 6, then 3 on the other hand (forgetting about the 1 from the 6). She CF1 and says 8. Perceptual or Figurative?

#ChoralCounting... by 2s for how many mini twizzlers there were in all these packs. We clapped on tens - and on the last round of counting, we stomped too! So many patterns!

Multiplying continued… regular dot images (#AVMR n-groups) can also support students visually as they skip count 2/
