LeBron is SUCH a ring chaser. Dude wouldn't take a significant paycut for a Lakers team that did basically whatever he wanted, but he's ending his career playing for pennies for Philly. Thankful for the bare minimum one ring, but the LeBron Lakers era was mostly a disappointment.

And the $139.6 million from 73 international markets is absolutely DISASTROUS for the great Nolan when you consider that his own country, United Kingdom/Ireland, only spent $17.4M... ...with every other territory coming in way less. And finally, they don't tell you that "Odyssey" only has one more CLEAR weekend before "Spider-Man" webs up the box office. A huge opening? Relative. A financial triumph? We shall see.

@DLoesch Ive watched twice thought it was great. Felt like i was in a fantasy world. I didnt see much of the previews so everything was new to me and my jaw dropped a few times! Had many memorable moments. Had a great few hrs watching and got my moneys worth!

I’m hearing conflicting things about The Odyssey. I don’t have the attention span for woke trash. But is it actually woke trash? Or is it worth seeing? Feedback preferably from those who’ve actually seen it, please!

The Odyssey is not going to do great, although everyone will say it's a massive success. It won't to better than The Dark Knight (and that'll be without inflation adjustments). It'll be on par with Oppenheimer, so about $85 million weekend opening (not counting Thursday). Add in Thursday, that'll boost it over the $100 million mark, which everyone will call a summer blockbuster hit. They're already hailing how it's broken all records for a Thursday opening. Then you read the details and it's for the 2026 year. Uh, that's not really saying much as 2026 has been very lackluster. Summer blockbusters used to do big bucks. It needs to make over $200 million domestic opening weekend to compete with being a huge success. It won't even get close to that. The Odyssey will do okay domestically. Not great, but okay. Worldwide will save it and help make it a profit. Word of mouth will see it drop more than normal the second weekend.

Here’s what I think happened: Boston saw a young cocky GM ready to make his mark, and they subsequently took advantage of him. Now, in 12 months when Jaylen, Maxey, and Embiid take 96% of their cap Sixers salary cap we will revisit this deal and collectively laugh at Gancey.
