What I find exciting about this is how it connects cortical cell types/circuits to the effects of therapies. I'm interested in how excitatory cell types contribute to behavior; studies like this suggest understanding those distinctions is key for designing more precise treatments

One of the biggest mysteries in neuroscience is how brain stimulation therapies can rapidly relieve severe depression. New research from @dgsomucla identifies specific neural circuits that appear to be restored by transcranial magnetic stimulation, offering a clearer picture of how these treatments work & how they might be improved in the future. Exciting work from @michaelgongwer (in our MD/PhD program) & @ladenardo @ScottWilke5. Read more here: cell.com/cell/fulltext/…

@InTime_49 @pgmid Thank you so much. Borges somehow anticipated that memory is geometry, recursion, and transformation. Add cell types and ripples, and perhaps we get a little closer to the machinery behind those worlds.

Thank you so very much. How very grand indeed, Jorge Luis Borges' is nothing less than the most insightful and prescient neuroscience fiction writer. Combine the neuron variety, ripples and low dimensional manifolds and you've made us geeks extremely happy.

Different neuron types make different ripples through different manifolds. That sounds cool, and Jorge Luis Borges probably already said it... Liset's @LMPrida work actually is cool, and I'll let her actually say it... braininspired.co/podcast/236/

Thank you @pgmid for a thoughtful journey through neural manifolds, cell types, and brain dynamics. Bridging scales from genes to population activity is where the real story unfolds. @_TheTransmitter #Neuroscience

Paul Middlebrooks @pgmid talks with @LMPrida about how her efforts to understand the varieties of sharp wave ripples in the hippocampus led to her discovery that specific types of neurons control the properties of neural manifolds. thetransmitter.org/brain-inspired…

Thanks Fernando for the kind words & your input to the study on TAF1 role in MS. I loved presenting our work at your new location. Always a pleasure visiting the Center where I started my career. So many old friends and collaborators, and great opportunity to meet the new groups!

Hyperinteresting seminar of @JJLucasLab at our @CNCajal_CSIC, today, on the role of #TAF1 in #progression of #MultipleSclerosis: an example of how research in @Huntingtondisea can open a breaking line for a hot topic in #MS (or the essence of #Neuroscience). A honour to be there!

🚨We received a NEW @NIH grant to build a powerful model of how Alzheimer’s damages the hippocampus, a brain region essential for memory. Led by @neuralmapping, the project may help pinpoint early changes in the disease & guide more effective treatments 🧠 bit.ly/48hptOo

@LMPrida en su intervención en #LaGranja2026 ha hecho mención en la importancia del EEG en las epilepsias complejas y raras. Asegura que “permiten explorar alteraciones de circuito, más allá de los patrones encefalográficos clásicos”.
