NSW AusRAP map transport.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/wha… Congratulations to everyone involved and to the NSW Government for completing this assessment. An enormous task. A similar task now is for regular updates and communicating the benefits to the community.

Privileged to attend HM King Charles’ garden party at Buckingham Palace today with @Emma_MacLennan. Amused to chat with late John Smith’s 1992 Commons sparring partner ex Chancellor Lord Lamont. Great to meet also with fellow Tenterden residents Tim & Mary Monckton.

@RaphRoadSafety Agree. We need parliamentarians to be held accountable for failing to provide a safe, well regulated , well made and well enforced road network.Let’s have double demerit points for Ministers who call for another review, another round table. Implement known safety solutions now.

youtube.com/watch?v=Zwd7tP… You are correct Peter. We don't need YET ANOTHER ROUNDTABLE opening to international experts to advise how to reduce road fatalities and serious injuries! We know what to do and Australia already has many globally recognise world road safety experts.

@DavidDjward @nitin_gadkari @GlobalNCAP @autocarpro @MORTHIndia @OfficeOfNG @FIAFdn @BloombergDotOrg @autocarindiamag @sidpatankar @dipakdashTOI @UNRSC @etiennekrug @margiepeden I agree wholeheartedly with David. NCAPs worldwide for decades have encouraged consumers to seek to buy safer cars than manufacturers generally offer. Great to see a Bharat NCAP now, but it must test and publish results which include the latest safety technologies available .

@AAAcomms @iRAPSavingLives Maybe we could be innovative enough to have a annual percentage reduction of the amount of dangerous ie one star roads per year? Or be bold enough to have a target that 80% of traffic is on three star roads by 2030 or really bold to have 80% of traffic on 4 star roads by 2040???

Would you like to know whether governments are spending your taxes on fixing our most dangerous roads? @iRAPSavingLives has examined 450,000km of road and scored them on a five-star rating system. State and territory governments hold this information – but like much other road safety data, it’s not publicised. Should Canberra require states governments to publish this data to inform better decisions on road safety policies and save lives? We shouldn’t need to guess when it comes to road safety.

So valuable to recognise the contribution the Centre and its predecessor, the Road Accident Research Unit have made under the leadership of Jack McLean, Mary Lydon and Jeremy Woolley in 50 years to reducing road trauma in so many areas. Congratulations!

There are many successes in reducing road trauma, time to build on them. Let’s encourage the aspiration that road travel can be safe! See some great results here lnkd.in/e7KDwtmD lnkd.in/eWU8Wy_q

@CatherineKingMP Let’s hope specified improvements to ensure the safety star ratings of all road funding remains a critical priority. As you said a decade ago when Road Safety Minister “we must do more to improve road safety “. Stay the course!

Today, I announced a review of the $120 billion 10-year rolling infrastructure investment pipeline. We must ensure that the Australian Government is funding priority projects of national significance that can actually be delivered. bit.ly/3Hs5GhE

Remember when we were told EVs would end the weekend? Only 10 months ago the now deputy opposition leader told us there were no electric utes anywhere in the world! Thanks @solarcitizens for bringing your ute to Ballarat and showing the regions that there are EVs for us too.

@_JamesSteward_ @AAAcomms Tying $s to road safety outcomes is common sense not bribery. The extra &s the previous Govt put up for specific infrastructure with safety outcomes were for all road users, it needs to be encouraged.

@LMroadsafety @AAAcomms You mean like bribery? #Labor PM Bob Hawke bribed the states to enact mandatory bicycle helmet laws. I see minimal infrastructure safety outcomes for vulnerable road users, but a lot for cars. It's always the same story. #auspol

New data released this week shows 1,208 deaths on Aus roads in the previous 12 months. It represents a rise of more than 80 lives lost. It's not enough for the Government to simply acknowledge the problem and set ambitious targets. Explore the data at data.aaa.asn.au/road-safety

Bad example of law breaking by @RishiSunak not wearing his rear seat belt whilst talking about today’s ‘levelling up’ announcement. 24% of all car occupant fatalities between 2016-2020 due to not wearing belts. Time for @Mark_J_Harper to give PM a ticking off & police referral.
