With Qatar unable to deliver the gas Europe desperately needs after deciding to free itself from the threat of cutoff from Russian gas, the opportunity for Canadian LNG is obvious. When asked recently about the opportunity Minister Hodgson answered that “We are hearing directly from our allies in Asia, our allies in Europe, that they want to buy gas directly from us.” nationalpost.com/opinion/adam-p…

The world needs more Canadian natural gas and they need it now. The risk is not that Canada gets this wrong; it’s that we move too slowly while others move ahead. financialpost.com/commodities/en…

The world needs more natural gas and it should be Canadian. If this energy doesn’t come from Canada, it will be produced somewhere else, while Canadians lose out on the immense economic benefits associated with such massive-scale development.

India is reeling under its worst gas crisis in decades with the government cutting supplies for industries to shield households from any shortage of cooking gas. India consumed 33.15 million metric tons of cooking gas last year, with imports accounting for about 60% of demand. About 90% of those imports came from the Middle East. reuters.com/business/energ…

The Port of Vancouver may be in B.C., but its impact is national. Every day, it helps move what Canadians grow, mine, and make to global markets. Canada has what the world needs - our job is to help deliver it.

This is the most important point: Canada is in decline relative to peers. “We are seeing a systematic decline relative to countries dealing with the exact same measurement challenges. From 2014 to 2024, Canada’s real GDP per capita adjusted for purchasing power parity grew by just 3.2 percent in total, an anemic 0.4 percent per year on average, and the third lowest among 38 advanced nations. Over the same period, the United States posted 20.2 percent total growth (1.9 percent annually), and the OECD average reached 15.3 percent (1.4 percent annually). The measurement shortcomings cannot explain five-to six-fold differences in growth rates.”

Our trading partners in Europe need more Canadian natural gas. Exporting our LNG to Europe can help drive our local economy, while helping our friends abroad meet their energy needs. It's time for action to make it happen.
