The fall of Eric Swalwell is a coordinated power play by Democrats. California has a jungle primary— meaning the top two candidates in the primary advance to the general election, regardless of party. The Republican candidates are over-performing enough that Democrats are worried the two general election candidates would be Republicans. In order to consolidate the Democrat vote, one of the candidates had to drop out, but Swalwell refused. That’s all the party leadership needed to start releasing all the dirt they had collected on him for years. They don’t care about his victims, only that he was too stubborn to step aside so they could hold on to power.
