Birthday notes 35 ⁠ ⚡️🌲💀🌞✝️⁠ In the past I’ve felt pretty down on my birthday. Every new trip around the sun, I’d look at my life and see myself largely as a failure. I’d wish that more people listened to my music and that I was selling out massive tours around the world like so many of my friends, that I could afford my own place to live and all those kind of things that come with a “successful” music career. This year I’m turning 35. I still feel like I’m 18. I thought I would be retiring at 35, have a wife, maybe a couple kids and a long legacy music career in the rear view. Tonight Im sleeping at a Comfort Inn in Roswell New Mexico with a shower that doesn’t work, but there’s a double rainbow overhead, it’s Milky Way season and I’m on top of the world. ⁠ I am proud of Who I am. I’m strong, and brave, and compassionate, and see people, and I’m wiser than I was yesterday, forever learning. After this tour ends I don’t know where I’m going but as this huge lightning storm cracks on in the New Mexican sky I get the funny feeling that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
