River Bluff students welcomed East Point Academy's Chinese immersion program to engage in activities centered around Chinese culture and the Mandarin language, demonstrating exceptional student leadership and collaboration!

Last week, former & current immersion students, families, teachers, leaders & community members gathered to celebrate 20 years of Immersion in Lexington One! It was a beautiful tribute to this milestone & the cultures represented by the program. Here’s to the next 20 years!

Lex One Teachers of the Year, Adriana Garcia and Céline Miller, were featured on the SCDE All Things World Languages Webinar series. Mme. Garcia shared strategies for students to stay in the target language, and Mme. Miller discussed classroom management techniques. 🎉👏

Congratulations to the 202 outstanding juniors and seniors in Lexington One who earned the Seal of Biliteracy this year — our highest number ever! The South Carolina Seal of Biliteracy recognizes students who attain a high level of proficiency in English and at least one other world language. The seal advances the state’s commitment to preparing every learner for college- and career-readiness in an increasingly international community. To earn this initiative, a student must earn a 3.0 grade point average in English language arts and pass the Standards-Based Measurement of Proficiency test in any world language. On Day 3 we appreciate our teachers for how they spark Creative Thinking & Problem-solving by decoding language patterns & cultural nuances. Plus, they unleash linguistic creativity in countless ways! Thank you!

Kindness is today’s focus! Our teachers foster it daily by creating safe, mistake-friendly language learning spaces and by fostering empathy, thoughtfulness, and encouragement. Thank you for your kindness and for nurturing it in students!

Our teachers not only foster collaboration among students in the classroom, but they also demonstrate it through their own strong partnerships with school, district, and state teams. We appreciate their willingness to share resources, learn from others, and grow together!

This group of 2nd grade zoologists learned new things about wild animals in French speaking countries by reading short texts and completing a chart with names of animals. They did a great job! @Midway_Mustangs @LOWLT @SCFLTA

The World Language Celebration at Meadow Glen Middle showcased students’ language skills and cultural competence. High quality student work was on display and student leaders facilitated cultural performances and engaged the audience in authentic games. Well done!
