It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Cusano who collapsed at work yesterday. Employees rushed to his aid providing immediate CPR. Despite the valiant efforts of medical personnel, John passed away at a local area hospital. Our hearts go out to his family.

Watch the dedication of the first law enforcement memorial in #LNK. This project took years to raise funds for and organize. The memorial, which stands in front of the Hall of Justice, honors the officers killed in the line of duty for the LPD and @LSOnebraska. #HonorTheFallen

Help us congratulate Officer Jeff Hahne on his retirement after 30 years of service. While we are celebrating his retirement as a police officer, we are excited to welcome him as a Public Service Officer (PSO) assigned parking enforcement on the Southwest Team. Congratulations!

During the Husker game, Honor & Remember Nebraska Chapter presented the family of Mario Herrera w a flag. Friends & family enjoyed attending the game & displayed signs to honor him from the stands. Thank you for thinking of Mario's family & honoring him in such a meaningful way.

On Aug 26, 2020, Inv. Mario Herrera was shot in the line of duty while serving an arrest warrant. While he may be remembered for his sacrifice while serving #LNK, the life he LIVED was so much more. Join us in honoring Mario through a celebration of his life. EOW: Sept 7, 2020.

Our School Resource Officers are ready for students to head back to school. Ofc Tran (LHS) & Ofc Fisher (LSE) even shared their back to school photos. They are excited to return to school where they continue to build relationships with students, parents, and @LPSorg staff.

School Bus Safety Reminders: When approaching a school bus from the front or back when the warning signal lights are flashing, you must reduce your speed to 25 mph. Once the stop signal arm is extended, vehicles must stop until the arm is retracted. Fine for violation is $500.

School starts Monday, 8-16. Please remember the school zone speed changes and parking restrictions around the schools that in effect during school hours. Violators may be subject to parking citation. #lpd #lpdse

Congratulations to @Lincoln_Police Sergeant Dustin Romshek, recipient of the Mayor's Award of Excellence. His investigative efforts on cases involving missing children led to multiple solved cases, as well as new training for the department on best practices for helping children.
