I met book-Jamie long before I ever met show-Jamie. I didn't really think that anyone could embody Jamie Fraser as he was written by Diana Gabaldon. His character is unique, and layered, a kaleidoscope of sorts. Somehow, I really don't understand how, but the casting gods deemed it so, and there was Sam Heughan. We actually had our Jamie Fraser. People talk about wishing that they could watch that first episode again, as though they were watching for the first time. To relive the emotions that they had felt that very first time. To feel everything all over again. The magic. I can understand that. I remember sitting in silence thinking, "There he is. That's Jamie. He is Jamie Fraser." I was in awe. A little bit speechless. Sam was Jamie Fraser. All these seasons later, he still is. I always thought that Sam was a remarkable actor. A born storyteller. A thespian. Not just the way that he delivers lines, but the way that he uses his physicality, the way that he moves within a scene. To me, his non-verbal acting is second-to-none. The way that you can see his emotions, the way that you can hear his inner thoughts. All without uttering a sound. Mesmerizing. What I find really interesting is that it isn't until you meet him and talk to him that you realize how good of an actor he truly is. I say this because when you talk with him there isn't a trace of Jamie Fraser. He is not Jamie Fraser in the flesh. He is Sam. Of course, he has an incredible ability to become Jamie in a moment, should he choose to, and I have seen him do so, but he switches back just as easily and it is simply Sam again. I remember the first time I met him. I remember thinking that he was just this really lovely guy, funny, oh so funny, kind, really nice, and not a hint of Jamie. Not one bit. It was really, really interesting. As the finale season draws to a close I will miss Sam's portrayal of Jamie. Nobody else could have portrayed Jamie the way that he did. He became Jamie as though Diana had been writing about him all along. Maybe she was? I think Sam's appeal is that he is a lovely guy who happens to be a really great actor, too. Over the years, I have loved the way that Sam has shown such love, and genuine respect to Outlander fans. Whether it was through MPC, here on Twitter, at conventions, signings, parades, meet-and-greets, zoom calls, or casual hellos in the street. It was Sam who helped us through Droughtlanders, pandemics, (Men in Kilts was a godsend for so many people) and, as it was for so many of us, the ups and downs of life itself. In return we've shown our appreciation a million different ways, whether it be a kind word of two to Sam when you've met him, a gift or two, a bottle of whisky, supporting his projects or businesses, making a difference in your own lives and the lives of others via MPC, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities, saving seats, battlefields, turtles, and a theatre. I have always loved hearing about people's interactions with Sam. The joy that radiates from those that have met him is truly infectious, one can't help but smile when imaging it all. Such an incredibly wonderful community of folks, happy for those that have met Sam, happy for Sam to have met folks that appreciate him, and happy for everyone who admires him from afar. Sam will always be our Jamie Fraser. But, he is so much more than Jamie Fraser. He always was. Luckily for us, we get to follow along and see where his next adventure takes him. Knowing Sam, it could be ANYWHERE and likely to be EVERYWHERE. So, I am sitting here, with one episode of Outlander to go, raising a dram to Sam. After everything that he has given to us over the years I think that he deserves the very best of everything. May his life be filled with love, laughter, joy, family, friends, and success. I would say whisky, too, but I think he's got that covered.

@MyPeakChallenge workout after a long hiatus. Trying out the Band Camp with Coach Pearl followed by a wee bit of yoga to cool down. Unfortunately my hip bands are still packed in a box so I had to improvise.

I never thought we'd be doing this again! Fortunately we are able to engage skilled builders. Just the beginning in our kitchen reno in our 1900 home. As with older homes, there are usually a few surprises in the walls, under the floors...@MyPeakChallenge

@lionheart22_ I really love seeing him being so excited and proud of what he has achieved with Sassenach Spirits, his writing, and MPC/philanthropy. Between us, I'd really love to see him back doing some theatre. He connects so well with people, I'd like to see that explored on stage again.

"I never once dreamed of sort of being able to be in an American TV series, you know? It was all about theatre and touring and sort of being an actor around Scottish theatre." Sam Heughan. It's funny how life works out sometimes. Sam, as Jamie Fraser, was and is serendipity.

@peekaboo_jen @MyPeakChallenge Really well so far. We've settled in Nelson and now we're waiting for the container to arrive. Hoping it doesn't get stuck in customs for ages. We still have things to do concerning our house in Saskatchewan so we'll be back and forth a bit.

Each year we have come together to celebrate #SamHeughan and his birthday by fundraising for causes close to his heart. In December 2024, Sam fulfilled a lifelong dream of hiking to Everest Basecamp in Nepal. I was touched by his beautiful tributes to the people of Nepal, their warmth, their kindness, their spirit, and enthralled by Nepal's landscape and soul. Inspired by Sam's achievement and his words, I am so very pleased to announce that this year's Sam's Birthday Fundraiser recipient is dZi. The dZi Foundation (pronounced ‘zee’) is named for ancient Himalayan beads that bestow health and prosperity on their wearers – a sentiment that has guided their work for the last 25 years. dZi are a non-profit organization dedicated to sustainable community development and eradicating extreme poverty in remote areas of Nepal. They envision a world of inclusive, thriving, and resilient communities that have achieved shared prosperity on local terms. dZi partners with local communities in Nepal to achieve shared prosperity by ensuring access to basic needs, catalyzing economic growth, and creating an environment for lasting change. Sam was able to see and experience firsthand the incredible work that dZi is doing, and I know that you will be just as proud as me to support this incredibly special foundation. If you would like to make a donation to our Sam birthday fundraiser please follow the attached link: dzi.org/sam-heughan-bi… Important Information: There are two donation options. US dollars via the DONATE option. Irrespective of your local currency your donation will be converted to US dollars. This conversion is done by your bank. If you have any questions please send me a DM and I can hopefully answer them for you. UK donors. If you would like to access Gift Aid, or make a donation in UK pounds, please use the second UK "GIVE A GIFT TODAY!" option. As always, our fundraiser will run for the next five weeks with the donation total announcement occurring on Sam's birthday, April 30. And, with that, our 2025 Sam birthday fundraiser is live! To each of you, thank you for making a difference in so many people's lives, just as Sam has made a difference in so many of our lives. HapdZi birthday, Sam. #SamHeughan #HapdziBirthdaySam

I've always thought it is really lovely how Sam always makes time for his followers. Whether it is social media posts keeping us up-to-date on his projects, or whether it is keeping us engaged during the numerous #droughtlanders that we have experienced. Whether it is posing for a million selfies or autographing anything and everything before and after events. Whether it is attending conventions here, there, and everywhere and giving folks the chance to have a photo or listen to him speak on a panel. Whether it is raffling himself off to raise funds for charities that are near-and-dear to him, or hosting virtual galas, or creating and nurturing MPC. Whether it is bottle signings, book launches, "Evenings With" and everything else that he has done over the years. It is really incredible. I know it must be exhausting for him sometimes. I know that it has lead to his privacy being intruded way too many times. And, I know it has created this almost expectation of him to be "available" anywhere and everywhere. Which is really sad. Especially given how present he has been for so many of us. Given all of this, I hope Sam knows just how much we really do appreciate him and how much we enjoy his interactions. He makes it so very easy to support him and his projects. He's a lovely guy. Mindful and thoughtful. And he has the best sense of humor! Thank gosh. Cheers to you, Sam! Cheers for making us feel valued as your followers. I can't wait to see what is next for you.

@peekaboo_jen So true! He has been an inspiration for me even since I "discovered" him in Outlander. Did my research and thought. "Wow. This man is amazing". I'm a latecomer to the "Heughan World" but I'm here to stay. Thanks Sam, for being you.
