@scottbraddock @GregAbbott_TX FOUR BILLION!!! Shame on his followers for allowing this misappropriation of PUBLIC funds. Abbott is robbing public school students and tainting the teaching profession.

While you're watching Texas schools struggle with inadequate resources: Anyone who tells you @GregAbbott_TX didn't hold school funding hostage for private school vouchers is lying to you. Here's the video of Abbott spelling out what he was doing.
HOUmanitarian ™@HOUmanitarian

October is Bullying Prevention Month, but during it Gov. Abbott is holding up $4B in new education funds until he gets his school voucher bill. This impacts both per student allotment funding (currently 43rd in US) and teacher pay raises ($7,700 behind US pay avg) . #TxLege

@startelegram Yes. The overall distrust is a problem. Put “Kids First” by communicating and asking questions in November, January, March, so that your hard-working FISD teachers have a PLAN and roadmap for academic success. Parents know Day 1 what milestones their child needs to meet.🍎

Texas has among the highest high school graduation rates in the nation for Hispanic, Black, and economically disadvantaged students. Our overall high school graduation rate is 90%. In Texas, EVERYONE has the opportunity to succeed.

@GregAbbott_TX As a former teacher in Ft. Worth, I can tell you unequivocally that hundreds of kids are graduating without passing the English STAAR test. These kids barely speak English.

“A report from the state’s Teacher Vacancy Task Force recommended increased compensation to help retain teachers.”The state is sitting on BILLIONS of surplus funds. It’s time for the state to fulfill its constitutional duty. @GovAbbott @DadePhelan @DanPatrickTX #txed #txlege

@jasonkovacs Great question. What's so interesting to me is that this way of parenting is the *exact opposite* of how God treats his own children! How many times does the OT tell us that God is slow to anger and abounding in compassion?! God gives space for his children's feelings.

There is a popular parenting principle in the church that says obedience should be immediate and cheerful and if it isn’t we use the rod. "Delayed obedience is disobedience." "Obey with a happy heart." Where does the Bible require this of parents and children?

Note to self: on long car rides with my wife, a current classroom teacher, don’t listen to educational podcasts. She will yell back at the speakers. 🤣

Looking for the #Metroport Chamber of Commerce to join 28 other Chambers to publicly declare that #Vouchers are bad for Business in Texas! Families move to this area because of @NorthwestISD! @CityofRoanokeTX @TrophyClubGov @CityofJustinTx

NISD stands firmly opposed to efforts to redirect public funds to private schools with little to no accountability. Lawmakers have the opportunity to support hardworking teachers and public schools by increasing outdated funding levels. They should use it. youtu.be/vn7oABs2tFM

Lawmakers are meeting NOW to discuss and vote on a voucher program. Join me in asking lawmakers to fund public schools, not vouchers. #txed p2a.co/BDoNO8m

@BYECAHELLOTEXAS @brianeharrison @Good2Greed Consider the compensation for advanced degrees that are required for that role AND the # of days on duty each year. Central office & principals get 5-15 days off each summer vs. teachers with 40+ days off each summer. How does the salary spread in corporate America compare?

My constituents are losing their homes to pay these outrageous salaries. Hell yes I want bureaucrat salaries capped! Even the federal government has salary caps. Superintendents and city managers in Texas are making more than the President of the United States! #txlege
Claudia Torres-Yañez@ClaudiaTYanez

@brianeharrison I've heard the market study discussions at school board meetings. Compensation is market-based, with market studies of pay data. They have to compete to attract and retain talent like other organizations. You want to cap pay?
