This morning, the #911Museum unveiled a plaque dedicated to @PANYNJ Police Department K-9 Sirius, the only working dog killed on 9/11, and all the other K-9s involved in the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero. On 9/11, PAPD Lt. David Lim was in the South Tower's basement with Sirius, his K-9 partner, Sirius, when he felt the building tremble violently.  Lim went to investigate and assist potentially injured civilians, securing Sirius in his kennel and assuring the dog that he'd be back. When the buildings collapsed, Sirius was lost beneath the South Tower and Lim was rushed to the hospital. The dog's remains were recovered in the winter of 2002 and ceremoniously removed from Ground Zero with a full honor guard, the same way the remains of human PAPD members would be. Joined by family, friends, PAPD community members and their K-9s, #911Memorial & Museum President and CEO Beth Hillman, and PAPD Deputy Superintendent Mike Brown, Lt. Lim spoke about the impact Sirius had on those around him, the many ways K-9s help keep New York City safe, and the importance of our promise to #neverforget everyone lost on 9/11.

A healthy baby boy was born at the Lincoln Tunnel on Monday — thanks to the help of two quick-thinking Port Authority police officers. A driver pulled over around 9 a.m. and told a Port Authority Officer that his partner was bleeding and in labor, according to officials.
