@The_Jow @ajmartin1991 Reasonable actors in that space assess inactive systems, but we still don't know enough about damage that'd do. Largest mounds needed 10-100 kyr but venting phases were shorter (20%-ish). Colonization is rapid but that does not make the system “renewable” or mining “sustainable”.

@ajmartin1991 The other thing is the timing between one field going inactive and another field forming. This isn’t rapid I think and as you say mound formation (and hence resource formation) takes time. I’ve not seen proposals to mine active mounds given fauna but that could be catastrophic…

Hydrothermal vent people (@ajmartin1991?) out there, my take on this is that mining of live vents would destroy their unique faunal ecosystems and they are not “renewable” on normal human terms; it would still likely be 10K+ years to form a new active vent system?

We are heartbroken to say Maxi Jazz died peacefully in his sleep last night. He was a man who changed our lives in so many ways. He gave proper meaning and a message to our music. He was a lovely human being with time for everyone and wisdom that was both profound and accessible.

@stadt_kiel Das ist wirklich bedauerlich die Verbindung nach so kurzer Zeit einzustellen, bevor sich die Option überhaupt herumgesprochen hatte. Endlich gab es eine vernünftige ÖPNV Verbindung aus Holtenau.

Die SFK wird daher am Mittwoch, den 7. 12. diesen Verkehr wieder einstellen.
